Eavesdropping-Surveillance Arrest (11/18/09 @ 1100 hours-Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit has made an arrest of an C.R.N.A. (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) accused of unlawful surveillance and eavesdropping.
On Wednesday; November 18, 2009 investigators secured a warrant for 47 year old Paul Serdula of Marietta, Georgia accusing him of setting up a recording device in the female bathroom of a dental office located at 600 Galleria Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia. (Detectives took a second warrant on Thursday; November 19, 2009 for the same charge involving two additional victims at the same location.) The recording device (which was set up in the bathroom) was removed as evidence. As detectives from the High Tech Crime Squad conducted a preview of the confiscated items, hundreds of videos, (some of which were of potential victims) were discovered revealing inappropriate criminal conduct against persons who were under anesthesia at various medical or dental facilities.
As a result of that investigation at the dental office, investigators seized (with a search warrant) from Serdula’s home, other phones and evidentiary items which will be analyzed for evidence.
Because detectives have not been able to identified any of the victims from their subsequent investigation (other than the dental office), they are asking for the publics assistance.
Anyone who may have had a dental or medical procedure in which they were put under anesthesia is asked to contact that primary care physician who ordered the procedure to see if 47 year old Paul Serdula was the attending C.R.N.A. (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Paul Serdula was a contract C.R.N.A. He did not work directly for any dental or medical physician, but would have been contracted for his services.

Paul Serdula was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after detectives interviewed him regarding the dental office incident. He was transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with (3cts.) of Eavesdropping-Surveillance (from the incidents at the dental office).
***UPDATE*** on the Fatality Crash Investigation (11/18/09 @ 2245 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash involving a motorcyclist.
According to investigators, the driver of a 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle was engaged in a speed contest with the driver of a 2004 Honda VFR800 motorcycle while northbound on Canton Road in Marietta, Georgia. According to witnesses, the male driver of the Suzuki was weaving in and out of traffic at a very high rate of speed as he approached a white 1994 Mercury Villager Van which was also northbound on Canton Road. After the Suzuki sideswiped the left rear quarter panel of the Mercury, it redirected into the southbound lanes of Canton Road. At some point the driver separated from the motorcycle and was struck by a black 1999 Toyota Camry which was southbound on Canton Road. The motorcycle rider was deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Honda motorcycle has been identified as 34 year old David James Tipton of Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Tipton was arrested at the scene, transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Racing, Reckless Driving, D.U.I. (alcohol) and No Motorcycle Endorsement.
ATTENTION MEDIA: Yesterday evening, S.T.E.P. Investigators were able to make a positive identification of the deceased driver of the Suzuki motorcycle. He has been identified as 34 year old Joseph Cain Rivers of Roswell, Georgia.

Fatality Crash Investigation (11/18/09 @ 2245 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash involving a motorcyclist.

Mr. Tipton was arrested at the scene, transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Racing, Reckless Driving, D.U.I. (alcohol) and No Motorcycle Endorsement.
Critical Injury Crash Investigation (11/18/09 @ 1824 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a critical injury crash, which occurred on Mars Hill Road at Camden Lake Parkway in Acworth, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 16 year old male from Acworth, Georgia was operating a black 1995 Toyota Corolla while northbound on Mars Hill Road. When he attempted to turn left onto Camden Lake Parkway, he failed to yield to the driver of a black 2001 Volkswagen Passat which was southbound on Mars Hill Road.
As a result of a collision in the intersection, three occupants of the Toyota (an 18 year old male from Ball Ground, Georgia, a 17 year old male and a 16 year old female, both from Acworth, Georgia) were injured. All three passengers were transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital (with the 16 year old female being in critical condition).
The driver of the Volkswagen has been identified as 79 year old Gilbert James (Sr.) of Woodstock, Georgia. He was treated and released at the scene and is not expected to be charged.
The 16 year old driver of the Toyota was arrested at the scene and transported to the Marietta Youth Detention Center. He has been charged with D.U.I. (Drugs-Less Safe), Failure to Yield While Turning Left and Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle.

Pedestrian Fatality Investigation (11/13/09 @ 1904 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a pedestrian fatality collision, which occurred on Six Flags Drive near Six Flags Parkway in Austell, Georgia on Friday; November 13, 2009.
According to investigators, the driver of a green 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was westbound on Six Flags Drive when a male walked into the westbound travel lanes from the northern edge of the road. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 32 year old Lakesha Douglas of Austell, Georgia struck the male who had stepped out in front of her vehicle.
The male identified as 26 year old Juan Guadalupe Colon of Austell, Georgia was transported by ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries at approximately 0304 hours on Saturday; November 14, 2009.
Investigators do not expect to file charges in this case and anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.

Armed Robbery (11/05/09 @ 0132 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit continues to investigate an armed robbery, which occurred at 2445 Mall Boulevard in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the Applebee’s restaurant at closing time with their weapons drawn. The offenders demanded and received and undisclosed amount of cash from two employees before fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction. Three other restaurant employees were able to flee out a back door of the business as the robbery was taking place.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 5’10”-6’00” tall, approximately 250 lbs. He was armed with a shotgun and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark bandanna which covered his face.

Armed Robbery/Arrest (11/05/09 @ 0530 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division of Zone 2 has made an arrest of an individual, accused of robbing a business at 800 East/West Connector in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male (who was wearing a Halloween mask and was armed with a baseball bat) entered the C.V.S. Pharmacy. The suspect immediately approached the male employee at the cash register demanding money. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the business, the male fled from the area on foot.
While responding to the crime in progress, Zone 2 uniform Officer M.L. Owen observed a white 2005 Ford Focus parked off the side of Hicks Road. Within minutes, Officer Owen was able to locate and place the suspect into custody (without incident), as he was trying to make his way back to his getaway vehicle.
ARRESTED: Christopher Adams (a 28 year old male from Dallas, Georgia).
Christopher Adams is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Wearing a Mask or Hood, Armed Robbery and (2cts) of Aggravated Assault.
Armed Robbery/Arrest (11/04/09 @ 1510 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit continues to investigate an armed robbery, which occurred at 1050 East Piedmont Road (Suite-A) in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, on Wednesday; November 4th, 2009 two males entered Kim’s Cleaners and inquired about picking up their mother’s dry cleaning. As the owner was telling the males that he did not have the items, one of the two suspects produced a handgun and demanded money from him. At the same time the second suspect went behind the cash register counter and pointed his handgun at the store owner demanding that he get money from the cash register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects fled from the area in what was described as a gold Chevrolet Cavalier.
On Thursday; November 5th, 2009 after a lookout was placed to all police units regarding the gold Chevrolet Cavalier, Zone 3 Uniform Sergeant B.D. Smith spotted the car in the parking lot of the Marathon gas station off South Cobb Drive. With the assistance of other Zone 3 officers, a felony traffic stop was conducted on the driver and the two other occupants inside the car, as they drove into the Hickory Lakes Apartment complex in Smyrna, Georgia.
As a result, detectives were able to identify (by video from the Kim’s Cleaner robbery), 27 year old Derrius Lamonte Mack of Smyrna, Georgia. During the investigation, it was discovered that 25 year old Christopher Antonio Mack is the brother of Derrius Mack and that he was inside a nearby apartment in the same complex.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and Christopher Mack was taken into custody without incident by the Cobb County Police Department’s T.A.C. Unit. He was also identified (from the Kim’s Cleaner robbery video) as the second suspect in the robbery.
ARRESTED: Derrius Lamonte Mack (27 year old male from Smyrna, Georgia).
Christopher Antonio Mack (25 year old male from Smyrna, Georgia).
Both of the Mack brothers are currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center as each are charged with Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment and Aggravated Assault.
Note: Additional charges are pending against both for crimes they are accused of committing in unincorporated Cobb, Austell, and Atlanta jurisdictions.

Commercial Gambling Arrests (11/03/09-Headquarters) Agents from the Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Organized Crime Intelligence Unit have charged two individuals involved in a commercial gambling operation.
Acting on a complaint about gambling, yesterday evening an undercover agent participated in a “Texas Hold’em poker game which was being held at a residence in the Vinings Forest Town Homes in Smyrna, Georgia. As a result of the undercover operation, 42 year old Paul Miller of Smyrna, Georgia was charged with Commercial Gambling (F), Keeping a Gambling Place (M) and Gambling (M).
Also charged with Commercial Gambling (F) and taken into custody with Mr. Miller was 33 year old Christopher George Soltes of Marietta, Georgia. As of 1300 hours this date, Christopher Soltes resigned his position as a police officer with the Cobb County Police Department.
Additionally, agents expect to charge five other individuals with Gambling (M).
Armed Robbery (11/04/09 @ 1220 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2909 Log Cabin Drive S.E. in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the My Extra Attic business under the pretense of renting a unit. Within moments, one of the two perpetrators produced a pistol and demanded money from the store employee. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrators fled the area in what was described as a tan or gold vehicle.
PERPETRATOR(s): Two black males described as being between 26-32 years of age. One of the two males was armed with a pistol.

Armed Robbery (11/01/09 @ 1455 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1690 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Subway and ordered a sandwich. As the offender was at the cash register, he produced a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash and before leaving the business, the offender stole a drink (along with his food order) and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 18-25 years of age. He was last seen wearing a black coat and dark colored pants. He was armed with a handgun.
Robbery (11/01/09 @ 0645 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a robbery, which occurred at 1172 Milford Church Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male walked up to a female employee of the C.V.S. Pharmacy as she was opening the business. As the employee was opening the door, she was grabbed from behind by the male. The offender then forced the employee into the store and demanded money from her. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR: Black male wearing all dark clothing. There were no injuries in either of the above crimes and anyone with information about them is asked to call (770) 499-3945.

Armed Robbery (10/29/09 @ 2100 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 4311 Bells Ferry Road in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered Dunkin Donuts and asked the cashier if she was alone. When the cashier stated she was not, the male asked her to summon her coworker to the counter. The male then approached both employees in a threatening manner and demanded all of the money from the cash register. The employees complied, and after taking an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the cash register the male fled the area on foot. The male never produced a weapon, but the employees believed he was armed with a handgun.
PERPETRATOR: White male approximately 45–50 years of age, 5’08 and 5’10” tall, described as having a dark complexion and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a denim jacket, orange t-shirt, and baggy jeans.

Fatality Crash Investigation (10/27/09 @ 1726 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a fatality crash, which occurred in the center median of Piedmont Road at Piedmont Enclave Court in Marietta, Georgia.
Investigators believe that just prior to the fatality crash, 30 year old Arwen Burns of Marietta, Georgia was traveling west on Piedmont Road in her grey 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. After striking a 2003 Honda Pilot near the intersection of Morgan Road, she fled eastbound from the area on Piedmont Road. Within moments of fleeing the scene, Ms. Burns lost control of her Chevrolet in a curve near Piedmont Road and Piedmont Enclave Court. Her vehicle traveled into the center median of Piedmont Road where it collided with; and came to rest in a group of trees. Ms. Burns died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the Honda identified as 44 year old Jae Park of Acworth, Georgia was treated and released at the scene.
Investigators believe alcohol use and speed were contributing factors in this fatality crash. Anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.

Armed Robbery (10/24/09 @ 0705 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2498 Cumberland Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, three masked males entered the business of Rite Aid armed with handguns. The males demanded money from the registers and the safe. The males escorted the employees to the stock room, at the rear of the store. After receiving an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, the three males exited the business through the rear door.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, approximately 22-25 years of age, 5’06” tall, 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, dark jeans, gloves, and a black face net. He had a back pack, and he was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (10/22/09 @ 2150 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1475 Terrell Mill Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the business of Wing Zone and ordered food from the menu. After paying for his food order the male produced a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The manager complied, and after receiving cash, the male fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
PERPETRATOR: Black male approximately 18-20 years of age, between 5’10” to 6’00” tall. He was last seen wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt, and he was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery/Arrest (10/17/09 @ 2330 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Precinct Two Uniform Division in conjunction with the Robbery Squad has arrested several suspects accused of armed robbery at 6089 Mableton Parkway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, an employee of Popeye’s Chicken was walking to his vehicle after closing the restaurant when he was confronted by a male armed with a handgun. A second male and a female joined the armed male shortly after. The armed male forced the employee back into the business and ordered him to empty the safe, while the female stood watch. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects fled south on Mableton Parkway on foot.
Officers from Precinct 2 morning watch responded to the area and were able to locate the female and one male suspect. Further investigation led to the identification of the other male, who was also arrested without incident at his residence.
ARRESTED: Chandra L. Carey an 18-year-old female from Mableton, Georgia.
(2) Two juvenile males
All of those arrested are charged with Armed Robbery. Carey is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, while the two juvenile males are at the Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center.

Robbery by Force (10/13/09 @ 1039 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery, which occurred at 4624 Camp Highland Road in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the MetroPCS store and he was greeted by a male employee. Almost immediately after being greeted, the offender jumped over the counter and physically assaulted the employee. The offender forced the employee into the back room of the store where he took an undisclosed amount of cash and some cellular phones. The offender fled on foot through the rear of the business.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’11” tall, with a medium build, and a full beard. He was described as dark skinned, and he was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black hat. It is unknown if the male was armed.

Robbery Attempt (10/12/09 @ 0950 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a robbery attempt, which occurred at the victim’s residence on Glasgow Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the male victim got into his car which was in his driveway, and he was approached by two males who were armed with handguns. As the suspects rushed at the victim he fled from the area in his vehicle; however the offenders fired several shots into his vehicle. The victim was not shot, but he sustained a minor cut on his face due to shattered glass. The victim refused treatment at the scene.
SUSPECTS: Two black males between 18 and 30 years of age. Both males are approximately 5’05” tall and between 140 and 150 lbs. Both males were wearing dark hoodies, dark pants, bandannas over their faces, and both were armed with handguns.

Armed Robbery/Arrest (10/10/09 @ 1519 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division of Zone 3 in conjunction with the Robbery Squad has arrested an individual responsible for an armed robbery.
According to investigators, the male victim called the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center to report that he had just been robbed at gunpoint and that he had saw the male suspect go into an apartment at the Calibre Lake apartment complex.
When officers arrived on the scene, they knocked on the apartment door they were directed to by the victim. When there was no answer, detectives attempted to open the door with a key. Keeping the door from opening was a deadbolt lock which had been locked from inside. The door was then forced open by officers and within minutes, the suspect was located in a rear bedroom.
After taking the suspect into custody (without incident), a search warrant was secured and investigators located property that was taken during the robbery, as well as a handgun which was believed to have been used during the crime.
ARRESTED: Kenneth Earl Andrews (Jr.) 18 year old male from Austell, Georgia.
Kenneth Earl Andrews (Jr.) has been charged with Armed Robbery and processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Armed Robbery (10/11/09 @ 1150 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Person Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 940 West Atlanta Street in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, an armed male entered the Atlanta Road Grocery and demanded money from the female clerk. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the offender fled from the business on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR: Adult male dressed in black clothing. He had on a black face cover and was armed with a handgun.

***UPDATE***Bank Robbery (09/10/09 @ 1110 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 620 Fontaine Road S.W., in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the RBC Centura Bank and upon approaching the teller counter, he presented a “demand note”. After receiving an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, the perpetrator was last seen running northbound on Fontaine Road from the bank.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’10-6’00” tall, described as being in his early 30’s. He had a “round face” and was medium complected. He also had low cut hair and was described as having a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white button down shirt (which was not tucked in), blue jeans and dark sunglasses.

Follow up investigation conducted by the Robbery Squad has led to an arrest warrant issued on 10/06/09 for Robbery against Baskerville for the robbery at RBC Centura Bank on 09/10/09. Baskerville continues to be held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Attempted Robbery/Arrest (10/05/09 @ 1135 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad in conjunction with the Uniform Division of Zone 2 made an arrest of an individual accused of attempted robbery at 1661 East-West Connector in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the SunTrust Bank and presented a “demand note” to a teller. The teller was able to alert other bank employees who contacted the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center.
Officers from Precinct 2 arrived at SunTrust while the male was still inside. Upon exiting the bank the male was confronted by Sergeant B.M. Kitchens, and Officers C.L. Michael and B.M. Hurtado. Because the suspect was not compliant with commands given by officers, it was necessary to use a Taser to gain control of him. The male was taken into custody without further incident.
The male was identified as Michael Ray Baskerville Jr., a 33 year old male from Atlanta, Georgia. Baskerville has been charged with Attempted Robbery and he will be processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Armed Robbery (09/14/09 @ 2135 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad continues to investigate an armed robbery, which occurred at 1690 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia. According to investigators, when a male entered the Subway restaurant he began pointing a handgun at an employee as he demanded cash from him. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, the male fled from business in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’10”-5’11” tall. He was described as being approximately 20-25 years of age. He had an average build and had a short hair cut. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve grey shirt and dark pants. He was armed with a handgun.

9th Annual “Make-A-Wish” 5K Race (10/17/09) The 9th annual Cobb County “Make-A-Wish 5K race will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2009.
The race will begin and end at the Marietta Square with registration beginning at 0700 hours. The race will start at 0800 hours and all registered participants will receive a commemorative long-sleeve t-shirt.

Bank Robbery (09/10/09 @ 1110 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 620 Fontaine Road S.W., in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the RBC Centura Bank and upon approaching the teller counter, he presented a “demand note”. After receiving an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, the perpetrator was last seen running northbound on Fontaine Road from the bank.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’10-6’00” tall, described as being in his early 30’s. He had a “round face” and was medium complected. He also had low cut hair and was described as having a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white button down shirt (which was not tucked in), blue jeans and dark sunglasses.

Fatality Crash Investigation (09/06/09 @ 1542 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash, which occurred on Flint Hill Road at Jones Road.
According to investigators, a red 2002 Honda CBR 900 RR motorcycle was traveling northbound on Flint Hill Road. A gray 2006 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle was also traveling northbound on Flint Hill Road, trailing the CBR 900. The driver of the 2002 Honda CBR 900 RR motorcycle signaled to initiate a left turn onto westbound Jones Road, and as the driver initiated the turn the two motorcycles collided.
The collision caused the CBR 1000 to be redirected across Jones Road and strike the curb on the northern roadway edge. The motorcycle and driver collided with side by side utility poles on the northwestern corner of the intersection.
The driver of the red 2002 Honda CBR 900 has been identified as 38 year old Ronald Tyrone Bagley of Powder Springs, Georgia. Bagley was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the gray 2006 Honda CBR 1000 has been identified as 38 year old Anthony Tyrone Anderson of Smyrna, Georgia. Anderson was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The manner of this collision is still being investigated and no charges have been filed as of this time.

Armed Robbery (08/30/09 @ 2058 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 3625 Spring Hill Parkway in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, several males entered the business of Panera Bread Company all armed with handguns. Upon their entry, the males ordered everyone in the business to the floor. The suspects then went to the back of the business and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe. As the males were exiting the business, one suspect struck a victim in the head. That victim was treated by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services on-scene for minor injuries.
PERPETRATORS: Two to four black males all wearing dark clothing, all armed with handguns.

***Update*** Armed Robbery (06/28/09 @ 0105 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 824 Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, employees of the business Chuck E. Cheese’s were entering their vehicle when they were approached by two males, one who was armed with a handgun. The armed male ordered the employees back into the business at gunpoint. Once inside the business, the male ordered the manager to open the safe and place cash into a bag. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled the business. No one was injured during this incident.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’00” tall with a thin build and a short “fade”. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and shorts. He was armed with a handgun.
Black male last seen wearing a white t-shirt, driving a small 4 door vehicle.
There is a third suspect whose description could not be provided.

Investigators with the Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad have been in contact with law enforcement agencies in both Georgia and South Carolina in reference to robberies with a similar description as the one at Chuck E. Cheese’s in Kennesaw, Georgia on 06/28/09.
At this time investigators believe the individuals responsible for the robbery on 06/28/09 are also responsible for at least 6 other robberies in both Georgia and South Carolina. In these robberies the armed robbers have laid in wait until closing time and, at gunpoint, forced managers of restaurants to re-enter the businesses. Many of the robberies have different vehicle descriptions and the suspects are believed to be using rental cars.

Fatality Crash Investigation (08/23/09 @ 1850 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash, which occurred on I-75 northbound at Barrett Parkway.
According to investigators, a 2007 Toyota Corolla was northbound on I-75 at Barrett Parkway and was attempting to enter the right travel lane from the right shoulder. As the Toyota entered the right travel lane it collided with a 1989 Western Star tractor/trailer that was traveling in that lane. The collision caused the Western Star tractor/trailer to veer to the left. The Toyota left the eastern edge of the roadway where it overturned, and came to rest on an embankment.
After initial its impact with the Toyota; the Western Star tractor/trailer entered the left travel lane and collided with a 2005 Dodge Stratus on the passenger side door.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been identified as 23 year old Brian Andrew Spruell of Kennesaw, Georgia. Mr. Spruell was deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Western Star tractor/trailer has been identified as 64 year old Ralph Fainter of Waverly, Illinois. He was not injured.
The driver of the Dodge Stratus has been identified as 33 year old Shemieshea Garmon of Acworth, Georgia. She was transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries.

***UPDATE*** on 2007 Homicide (08/07/07 @ 0741 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide which occurred at 770 Fontaine Road in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, 47-year-old Robin Crankshaw was found deceased in the parking lot of Jackson Auto Center, where he was employed. The cause of death remains under investigation, however, the incident is being treated as a homicide.
There was an incident of road rage along the Floyd Road Corridor between 0700 and 0730 this morning involving a red pickup truck and a white or cream colored late 80’s to mid 90’s model work van. It is uncertain at this time if the two incidents are related.

During the 2007 homicide investigation, 41 year old Eddie Matthew Amos of Wooster, Ohio was identified as the suspect in the shooting death of 47 year old Robin Crankshaw. However, the whereabouts of Eddie Amos could not be determined at that time.
On Wednesday; August 12, 2009 Eddie Matthew Amos was arrested in Chattanooga, Tennessee on unrelated charges.
With the assistance of the Chattanooga Police Department and the A.T.F. (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) Field Office out of Chattanooga, Cobb County Crimes Against Persons investigators met with Eddie Amos yesterday and have since secured an arrest warrant for him.
Eddie Matthew Amos has been charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault and is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

***UPDATE***Home Invasion Arrest (08/11/09 @ Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit in a continuing joint investigation with the Marietta Police Department’s Detective Bureau has arrested an individual for his involvement in home invasions in Cobb County.
According to investigators, on 08/07/09 Barry Lee Henderson, a 24 year old male from Marietta, Georgia, was arrested by officers for Loitering and Prowling and Criminal Trespass at Ivy Ridge Apartments in Marietta, Georgia. Subsequent investigation conducted by investigators led to Henderson being charged in two separate home invasion incidents. At this time Henderson is charged with Burglary, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Sexual Battery, and False Imprisonment in an incident at Madison Hills Apartments and Robbery in an incident at Wood Hollow Apartments.
This investigation is ongoing between both jurisdictions and additional charges may be filed.

The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit has charged Barry Lee Henderson in connection with five additional home invasion/robbery incidents.
Investigators have charged Henderson in incidents which occurred at Wood Hollow Apartments on 02/19/09, Woodchase Apartments on 06/24/09, Kenwood Creek Apartments on 07/24/09, Madison Hills Apartments on 07/27/09, and Bentley Ridge Condominiums on 07/27/09.
From these five incidents Henderson has been charged with (9) counts of Armed Robbery, (6) counts of Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Burglary, and Criminal Trespass. These charges are in addition to the charges filed on 08/11/09.
Henderson continues to be held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond (Henderson’s PIC is attached to this Public Information Release).

Armed Robbery (08/17/09 @ 1315 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1706 Darwin Road in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, the male owner of the Pacific Blinds and Shutters was working in his business when he was confronted by three males (who had entered through a door which had been propped open). The victim was robbed of his cash at gunpoint by the three males before they fled the area in what was described as a (late 70”s to early 80”s) model black pickup truck. The truck was last seen southbound on Atlanta Road by the victim who was not harmed during the crime.

Armed Robbery/Arrests (08/14/09 – Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad has made arrests in relation to armed robberies which have occurred recently in Zone 5.
According to investigators, on 08/11/09 officers from the Cobb County Police Department’s V.I.P.E.R. Unit initiated a traffic stop on a blue SUV on Barrett Parkway moments after the Pizza Hut Restaurant located at 2650 Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia had been robbed. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Tyler Hendricks (25 year old male from Marietta, Georgia) was taken into custody and charged with Armed Robbery for the incident at Pizza Hut.
Subsequent investigation conducted by investigators from the Robbery Squad led to the identification of John R. Pfeifer (26 year old male from Marietta, Georgia), and Justin Clark (30 year old male from Marietta, Georgia) as armed robbery suspects in other incidents.
At this time Hendricks, Pfeifer, and Clark have all been charged with Armed Robbery for an incident, which occurred on 08/05/09 at the Bank of America located at 1800 Macland Road in Marietta, Georgia. Pfeifer and Clark have also been charged with Armed Robbery for their involvement in a bank robbery which occurred on 07/28/09 at the Flagstar Bank located at 2667 Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia.
These individuals are currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Armed Robbery (08/10/09 @ 2106 Hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2325 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, while employees of Little Caesars were in the back cleaning, a male entered the business. The male displayed a handgun and ordered the employees to the ground. The male demanded that the manager open the cash register, and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the male fled out the back door. There were no injuries in this incident.
PERPETRATOR: White male, 5’07 to 5’08” tall, 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black skull cap, a black and white camouflage style bandanna, and gloves. He was armed with a handgun.

Homicide (08/08/09 @ 0235 Hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred on Clearbrook Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, uniformed officers responded to 2998 Clearbrook Drive in reference to a call of a person shot. The ensuing investigation revealed that 39-year-old Stacey Mandeville shot her husband, 36-year-old Thomas Krebsbach, at their residence. Krebsbach was transported to the hospital for treatment, but he later died as a result of his injuries. Mandeville has been charged with Murder. Mandeville is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The pedestrian was sent by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital but died as a result of his injuries. (His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin).
The driver of the truck is identified as 47 year old Kerry Lee Gordon of Hiram, Georgia. The truck Mr. Gordon was driving is owned by Georgia Power.

Bank Robbery (08/05/09 @ 1505 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 1800 Macland Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, two armed (and masked) males entered the Bank of America and ordered everyone to the floor. As one of the perpetrators watched the front door the second approached a teller and demanded money.

According to investigators, two males entered the business of Zaxby’s brandishing handguns at the employees inside. Armed Robbery (07/28/09 @ 1604 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 2667 Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Flagstar Bank brandishing a handgun at the bank employees. The male demanded money and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash he fled the business. The male was last seen running around the building to the rear. There were no injuries in this incident.
PERPETRTOR: White male, approximately 35-40 years of age, 6’00” to 6’01” tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a navy colored hooded sweat jacket and jeans. He was armed with a handgun.

Robbery Attempt (07/27/09 @ 0347 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an attempted robbery, which occurred at 2560 Delk Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered an apartment in the Madison Hills Apartment Complex that was occupied by two females. The male was armed with a hammer. After encountering the male, one female barricaded herself in her room. The other female fled the apartment by jumping out of a second story window. The male fled the apartment. The female who jumped from the window was transported to Kennestone Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described as being light skinned, with bushy hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue pants, and he was armed with a hammer.
Armed Robbery (07/27/09 @ 0536 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1626 Alexandria Circle in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male approached the victim, who was outside of her apartment at the Bentley Ridge Apartments, and demanded her purse. The victim gave her purse to the suspect and he fled the area on foot. The male was armed with a hammer.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described as being light skinned, with bushy hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue pants, and he was armed with a hammer.

Home Invasion/Aggravated Assault Arrest (07/14/09 @ 1255 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad has made an arrest in a home invasion/aggravated assault case in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered 296 Nickajack Road armed with a handgun. The male bound up several occupants of the home. One occupant was able to get free and a confrontation ensued between the suspect and occupants, which resulted in one occupant of the home being shot.
Investigators recovered forensic evidence at the scene, and an investigation conducted by the Robbery Squad has led to the arrest of Johnnie Culbreath, a 44 year old male from Austell, Georgia.
Johnnie Culbreath has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Burglary, False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, Cruelty to Children 1st Degree, and Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Culbreath is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Bank Robbery (07/21/09 @ 1357 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 2900 Delk Road, (Suite #1150A) in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the SunTrust bank and approached a female teller with a “demand note”. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from her, the offender approached the manager and demanded money from him. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the business, the perpetrator fled the area in what was described as a black Toyota S.U.V. Detectives believe there may have been a second vehicle described as being a black older model Mercedes Benz.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’ll”-6’00” tall, described as having “light colored skin”. He had a thin build and was last seen wearing a black “NY-Yankees” hat, a gray tee shirt (with a white football helmet with the letter “C” on it). He also had on a neon yellow and green traffic vest, light colored blue jeans and dark shaded sunglasses.

***DELAYED*** Fatality Crash Investigation (07/19/09 @ 1604 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Dallas Acworth Highway near its intersection with North Shores Road in Acworth, Georgia.
According to investigators, a black 1997 Ford Thunderbird was traveling south on Dallas Acworth Highway. A silver 2003 Suzuki VS800 motorcycle was traveling south behind the Ford Thunderbird on Dallas Acworth Highway. The driver of Ford Thunderbird was stopped for traffic in front of her vehicle. As the driver of the motorcycle attempted to stop he lost control, and was ejected from the motorcycle.
The driver of the Suzuki VS800 motorcycle has been identified as 57 year old Richard L. Sanders of Carrollton, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver of the 1997 Ford Thunderbird has been identified as 21 year old Diana Bobadilla-Mornones of Dallas, Georgia. She was not injured and no charges are expected to be filed against her.

Armed Robbery (07/17/09 @ 2124 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 3351 Riverwood Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the victim arrived at the business of Wachovia to make a night deposit. While the victim was stopped in the drive thru, a male armed with a handgun confronted her as she was sitting in her vehicle. The male demanded the night deposit bag. After receiving the bag the male fled on foot. The victim was not injured.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 25-30 years of age, 6’03”-6’05” tall, 220-240 pounds. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing, and he was armed with a handgun.
2) Armed Robbery (07/20/09 @ 0240 hours in Zone 2)
According to investigators, a male and a female entered the business of QuikTrip and demanded cash from the clerk. The male suspect was armed with a handgun. The clerk opened the cash register and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the suspects fled the business

Underage Alcohol Compliance Check (07/14/09 – Headquarters) On Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 the Cobb County Police Department’s Permits Unit conducted “Underage Alcohol Compliance Checks” at several business in unincorporated Cobb County. Some locations were checked in response to citizens’ complaints alleging the businesses were known to serve alcohol to underage persons. The other locations were randomly picked based on geographic area in relation to the complaint locations.
Of the seventeen (17) businesses checked, four (4) sold alcohol to an underage volunteer. Cobb County detectives wrote five (5) citations (three (3) for Selling/ Furnishing Alcohol to an Underage Person and two (2) for No Alcohol Permit as required by the Cobb County Ordinance). At one location, the owner was charged with Obstruction after the investigation revealed that he lied about the identity of his employee who fled the scene after furnishing alcohol to underage person.

Homicide Investigation (07/12/09 @ 0211 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide, which occurred at 222 Sweetwater Circle in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone 2 was dispatched to shots fired at the Mableton Reserve Apartment complex. When they arrived, they located a male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The male was transported to Grady Hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators believe that a large party was taking place at the complex when a fight broke out between males in the parking lot. After the victim was shot, most of the partygoers fled the area.
The male who was shot and died at Grady Hospital has been identified as 25 year old Julio Ernesto Gamez Diaz of Mableton, Georgia.
***UPDATE*** on Home Invasion/Double Homicide (07/10/09 @ 0242 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit continues to investigate the home invasion/homicide which occurred at 4222 Brass Trail in Austell, Georgia as well as the homicide of the female which was discovered in a burned out car at 0336 hours on South Gordon and Old Alabama Roads in Austell, Georgia.
On Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1859 hours, Cobb County Police detectives were following up on information reference a B.O.L.O. (Be-On-Look-Out), when they observed a blue 1994 Mercury Marquis southbound on South Gordon and Blair Bridge Roads. As detectives followed the car, they along with the Uniform Division of Zone 2 tried to initiate a traffic stop. As the Mercury crossed over Factory Shoals Road, the front seat passenger shot through the back window of the Mercury at the police cruiser striking it in the front. As the car continued southbound at speeds of 80+ m.p.h., officers observed the front seat passenger shoot himself in the head. Moments later, the automobile came to a stop and officers initiated a felony traffic stop of those still left inside, which included the male driver and a female passenger in the back seat. While attempting to secure the occupants of the car, officers observed the female in the back seat get out of the car and sit down next to it on the sidewalk. They were also able to secure the driver without further incident.
ARRESTED: Marcus Bernard Woodward (a 25 year old male from Hiram, Georgia). He has been charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer.
The female has been identified as 34 year old Kiturah Dylin Thomas of Austell, Georgia. She is not being charged with a crime.
DECEASED: Isaiah Walker (26 year old male from Austell, Georgia) Detectives believe that Walker was directly involved in the homicide which took place at 4222 Brass Trail in Austell, Georgia.

Home Invasion/Homicide Investigation (07/10/09 @ 0242 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a home invasion and homicide which occurred at 4222 Brass Trail in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a person at the residence of 4216 Brass Trail reporting a person.
Officers from the Uniform Division of Precinct-2 were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived they discovered a deceased male (who had died from apparent gun shot wounds) inside the residence at 4222 Brass Trail. While securing the scene, they located three other males who had been shot.
Investigators have since identified the deceased male identified as 20 year old Nicholas Garner of Powder Springs, Georgia. One of the males was sent by air ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center and has since been identified as 22 year old Dimitri Hunter of Powder Springs, Georgia. The other two males were sent by ambulance to Grady Hospital have been identified as 22 year old Aaron Garner of Powder Springs, Georgia and 25 year Brandon Cox of Powder Springs, Georgia.
Investigators have been told that the remaining hospitalized victims are expected to survive their injuries.
At 0336 hours the Uniform Division of Zone 2 was dispatched to South Gordon Road at Old Alabama Road along with the Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services in reference to late model silver Chevrolet Impala which was reported by a citizen as being on fire. After the fire had been extinguished, the remains of a female were discovered inside.
Investigators have since determined that the vehicle is related to the earlier home invasion and homicide which occurred approximately an hour earlier.
The body of the deceased black female has not been identified and the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office is in the process of positively identifying the remains.

Homicide Investigation (07/04/09 @ 1600 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating the death of an infant.
According to investigators, on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at approximately 1600 hours, the Uniform Division of Zone 5 was dispatched to an unresponsive child in a vehicle located at 2535 Dallas Highway S.W., in Marietta, Georgia. When officers arrived on the scene they located a five week old female infant, its mother, and a (12) twelve year old male cousin.
Because the infant was not breathing, it was immediately transported to Kennestone Hospital and later transferred to Egleston Hospital. The next day the infant was taken off life support and pronounced deceased at 1806 hours.
On Monday, July 6, 2009 the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office conducted an autopsy and has concluded that the infant died as a result of blunt force trauma to its head.
As a result, the Crimes Against Children Unit has charged the (12) twelve year old male cousin with Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children.
The (12) twelve year old male has been charged on a “Juvenile Complaint Form” and is currently being processed through the Cobb County Juvenile Detention Center.

Armed Robbery (07/02/09 @ 2011 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 3191 Veterans Memorial Highway in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators a male entered the business of Dollar General, approached a cashier and purchased an item. While at the counter the male produced a screwdriver and lunged at the cashier. The cashier backed away from the register, at which time the male removed the drawer from the register and took the cash out. The male then exited the business and was seen getting into the passenger side of a silver four door vehicle, with tinted windows. The cashier was not injured in this incident.
PERPETRATOR: Black male in his late 20’s, 5’08” tall, 175 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black baseball style cap, a black t-shirt and dark pants.

Armed Robbery (07/02/09 @ 0110 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 291 Six Flags Drive in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, the victim was pumping gas at the business of QuikTrip. At this time a male came up from behind the victim and struck him in the face. The male, who was armed with a handgun, then demanded the victim surrender personal effects. After receiving property from the victim the male fled the area. The victim received a cut around one of his eyes, but he refused medical treatment.
PERPETRATOR: Black male with a dark complexion, mid 20’s, 5’10” tall, 175 lbs. He had shoulder length dreadlocks, and was last seen wearing a white shirt and white shorts. He was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (06/28/09 @ 0105 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 824 Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, employees of the business Chuck E. Cheese’s were entering their vehicle when they were approached by two males, one who was armed with a handgun. The armed male ordered the employees back into the business at gunpoint. Once inside the business, the male ordered the manager to open the safe and place cash into a bag. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled the business. No one was injured during this incident.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’00” tall with a thin build and a short “fade”. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and shorts. He was armed with a handgun.
Black male last seen wearing a white t-shirt, driving a small 4 door vehicle.
There is a third suspect whose description could not be provided.
Attempted Armed Robbery/Attempted Carjacking (06/26/09 @ 2145 hours in Zone 3). The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an attempted armed robbery and attempted carjacking that occurred at 3351 Riverwood Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the victims arrived at the business of Wachovia to make a night deposit. Upon their arrival they were confronted by a male who was armed with a handgun. One of the victim’s was outside of the vehicle, and the suspect demanded the night deposit. The victim ran from the scene with the night deposit. The suspect then confronted the second victim, who was still in the vehicle, and demanded he exit the vehicle. This victim jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off. The suspect ran from the scene. There was no loss in this incident and neither victim sustained any injury.
PERPETRATOR: Black male in his early 20’s, 5’11” tall, 180 pounds, last seen wearing a gray t-shirt around his face and dark clothing. He was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (06/26/09 @ 0211 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 3340 Cobb Parkway S.E. in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the AM/PM Gas Station/Convenience Store and approached the clerk at the counter. As the clerk opened the cash register to make change for an item that the male brought to him, he produced a shotgun. As the clerk backed away from the register, the perpetrator reached across and took the money from it. The offender was last seen walking west on Paces Mill Road.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 6’00” tall, l60 lbs. He was described as being dark complected in his mid 20’s. He had a beard and mustache and medium length hair. He was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, baggie jeans, white tennis shoes and a black baseball cap (with a white logo on it). He was armed with what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun.

Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault (06/23/09 @ 1859 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery and aggravated assault, which occurred at 1173 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, as a female employee was closing the Metro PCS business, a male entered. When she inquired about him having to pay a bill, he pulled out a handgun and struck her several times. As he was dragging her back into the business he was demanding money and phones from her. As the offender was fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash and cell phones, he set off the business alarm.
During the investigation, the victim told detectives that she believes she was unconscious for several minutes before waking up. She then drove herself home after securing the business. Approximately two hours later the victim (along with her family) called 9-1-1 to report the crime. Although the victim suffered minor injuries to her knees, arms, face and the back of her head, she refused medical treatment.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’08” tall, described as being dark complected and slim. He was armed with a handgun.

Distribution of Child Pornography Arrest (06/22/09 @ 1330 hours-Headquarters) Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit have arrested an individual for distribution of child pornography.
The undercover operation started on Friday; March 13, 2009 by a detective, posing as a 13 year old female from Cobb County, Georgia. During the course of the investigation the detective did receive via computer, sexually explicit messages and images, as well as videos depicting child sexual abuse.
The suspect, identified as 31 year old Jason Shane Price of Bryon, Georgia worked as a correctional officer in Bleckley County, Georgia. He has been charged with (2cts) of Distribution of Child Pornography and (6cts) of Computer Pornography. He is currently in custody at the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s I.C.A.C. (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force worked jointly in this case to make the arrest.

***UPDATE*** on the Cobb County False Alarm Ordinance (06/23/09-Headquarters) With the assistance of the Uniform Division from the Cobb County Police Department, the False Alarm Reduction Unit has reduced false alarms in Cobb County by more than 20% from this same time last year. So far, more than 41,000 citizens and businesses owners have registered their alarms with the Cobb County government.
Although there is no cost to register a business or residential alarm in unincorporated Cobb County, it is required by county ordinance. If an officer responds to any alarm (where the business or residential owner is not registered) a $100.00 will be assessed.

Murder Arrest (06/10/09 @ 2000 hours in Zone 2) Authorities from the Cobb County Police Department and the New York City Police Department have arrested an individual in connection with a 1991 homicide.
The suspect, identified as 38 year old Raoul Cooper of Mableton, Georgia was arrested in a vacant parking lot near the intersection of Floyd and Nickajack Roads in Mableton, Georgia yesterday evening. Homicide detectives from Cobb and New York, along with officers from the Cobb County S.W.A.T. Team took Cooper into custody without incident.
A murder warrant was secured by New York authorities for Cooper who was wanted in connection with a 1991 homicide that occurred in the Bronx, New York City, NY.
Raoul Cooper is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition.

Business Burglary (06/02/09 @ 1817 hours to 06/03/09 @ 0755 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Precinct-1 Criminal Investigations Unit is asking for the assistance of the public to help them solve a burglary of a business, located at 390 Barrett Parkway (Suite A-3) in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that the Topstyle Diamonds business was burglarized sometime between 1817 hours last night to 0755 hours this morning. Detectives believe that a burglary crew cut an access hole in the roof and after they gained entry into the business, they defeated both the business alarm and video security system.
Even though evidence was recovered at the crime scene, detectives believe that the person(s) had to have specific knowledge of business alarms as well as how to cut into a safe.
A thorough inventory has not yet been completed, but investigators believe that approximately $500,000.00 worth of merchandise was taken in the business burglary.

Robbery by Intimidation (05/23/09 @ 1637 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery, which occurred at 1255 Veteran’s Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Family Dollar business, walked up to a female employee at the cash register, and presented money as if he were going to pay for an item. As the employee opened the cash register the offender verbally ordered her (in an aggressive tone) to get away from the drawer. At the same time, the perpetrator reached across the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The offender then fled the area on foot and was last seen running in a direction towards Old Bankhead Highway.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 6’03” tall, described as having “dark skin”. He had a goatee and was seen wearing a white baseball hat, a dark blue shirt and blue jeans.

Officer Involved Traffic Crash (05/14/09 @ 1722 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate an officer involved traffic crash, which occurred on Atlanta Road S.E., just north of Austell Road S.E. in Marietta, Georgia.
Preliminary information from the scene indicates that Precinct-3 Uniform Officer D.J. Mangold was operating a marked Cobb County Police car southbound on Atlanta Road in the outside lane of travel. The officer attempted to make a U turn to go back northbound on Atlanta Road when he was struck on the driver’s side door by a maroon 2000 Pontiac Bonneville, which was being operated in the inside lane of travel.
The driver of the Pontiac has been identified as 61 year old Marion Thomas Woodward of Smyrna, Georgia. Mr. Woodward was not taken to the hospital, but did receive abrasions when the airbag in his car deployed.
Officer Mangold was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and was being treated for neck and back pain.

***UPDATE*** on V.G.C.S.A. Investigation/Arrest (05/12/09 @ 0341 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division of Zone 2 in conjunction with the M.C.S. (Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna) Narcotics Unit has made an arrest of three individuals for Violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act.
At 0341 hours this morning, Zone 2 Uniform Officer A.E. Lammers initiated a traffic stop (equipment violation) on a black/silver 1992 Dodge Dakota truck, which was westbound on Brownsville Road near McEachern Way in Powder Springs, Georgia.
During the traffic stop, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine carried by a female occupant of the truck. The officers then became concerned for the safety of the public, when upon closer inspection of the vehicle, items, chemicals and components were observed in the truck. This led the officers to believe that the suspects were using the materials for manufacturing methamphetamine.
The truck was immediately secured on Brownsville Road and members of the M.C.S. (Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna) Narcotics Unit were summoned to the scene. Once it was determined that the truck was safe to move from the roadway, it was pushed into an adjacent field where it was examined and evidence recovered by M.C.S. agents. The chemicals, components and other items were safely removed and will be destroyed by a private subcontractor of the D.E.A.
Supporting the operation was Engine-10 from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services along with their Medical Operations vehicle.

Strong Arm Robbery (05/09/09 @ 1400 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a strong arm robbery, which occurred at 1421 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, three males entered the Dollar General business and two of the three stood in line as if to make a purchase. At some point, one of the two males lunged toward the female employee who was standing at the cash register. When the employee fled the area, the third male came from around the corner and took money from the register. All three fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Armed Robbery/Arrest (04/15/09 @ 1100 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad in conjunction with the Uniform Division of Zone 3 has made an arrest of an individual accused of an armed robbery, which occurred at 3200 Cobb Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Homewood Suites Hotel and displayed a handgun to the clerk. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the male fled the area in a white Lincoln Navigator.
Officers from the Uniform Division of Zone 3 responded to the area and Officer A.P. Nichols located the vehicle on Cobb Parkway and Interstate-285. He followed it eastbound onto Interstate-285 where Officers S.N. Millsap and M.E. McDaniel joined him. When the officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop the suspect refused to yield to them. The driver attempted to elude the officers while eastbound on Interstate-285; however he lost control of his vehicle and wrecked on the ramp from Chamblee-Tucker Road to eastbound I-285.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with one count of Armed Robbery.

CarFit Check-Up Event for Seniors (05/06/09 @ 1330 hours) The Cobb County C.O.P.S. (Color of Public Safety) organization is sponsoring an event on Wednesday, May 06, 2009 through the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in conjunction with G.T.I.P.I (Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute).
Personnel from the G.T.I.P.I will be training approximately twenty police officers and citizens who will be assisting with the event. Anyone interested in becoming a technician should attend the G.T.I.P.I. Instructors course to be given at the Department of Public Safety Training Center located at 2109 Valor Drive in Marietta Georgia. The training will take place in the auditorium at the D.P.S. Training Center the morning of the event from 0800-1200 hours.
The trainers will then assist with the actual “CARFIT” checkup event which will take place at the Department of Public Safety Training Center’s E.V.O.C. (2nd) ***UPDATE*** on the Double Homicide which on Saturday; April 4, 2009 in Zone 2. The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit continues to investigate a double homicide, which was discovered yesterday morning at 511 Villa Avenue S.E. in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, at approximately 0434 hours early yesterday morning, a resident on Villa Avenue S.E. called the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center after hearing multiple gun shots in the area of the cul-de-sac at the end of Villa Avenue. Uniform officers from Zone 2 were dispatched to the area but were unable to locate anything. At 1157 hours, a friend who had walked up to the residence at 511 Villa Avenue called 9-1-1 after discovering two bodies.
The two deceased males who died from apparent gunshot wounds have been identified as 30 year old Jerry Bernard Bell of Austell, Georgia and 31 year old Wilbert Deroulot of Austell, Georgia.

On Monday, April 6, 2009 a warrant was issued for 21 year old Deigo Demetrius Baily of Riverdale, Georgia for (2) counts of Aggravated Assault and (2) counts of Felony Murder.
Last night, and with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall Service, Deigo Demetreius was taken into custody without incident in a house in Palmetto, Georgia. He has been processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.

On Tuesday; April 14, 2009 Shawndale Ford Bradley (18 year old male from College Park, Georgia) was taken into custody by the Clayton County Police Department’s S.W.A.T. Team without incident at his mother’s residence. He is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center (without bond) charged with (2) counts of Felony Murder.
On Wednesday; April 15, 2009 Erica Stokes (27 year old female from Lithia Springs, Georgia) along with Kendra Moore (19 year old female from Lithia Springs, Georgia) were taken into custody by detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit at Cobb County Police Headquarters. Both are currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center (without bond) each charged with (2) counts of Felony Murder.

Census Workers to Verify Addresses in Georgia
The Census Bureau has launched a massive operation to verify and update more than 145 million addresses as it prepares to conduct the 2010 Census.
Nationwide, more than 140,000 census workers will participate in the address canvassing operation, a critically important first step in assuring that every housing unit receives a census questionnaire in March 2010. In Georgia, approximately 3,200 people will carry out the operation. The countdown to the 2010 Census was officially one year out on April 1.
“A complete and accurate address list is the cornerstone of a successful census,” said George Grandy, Jr. Atlanta regional director at the U.S. Census Bureau. “Building on the achievements of 2000 Census, we have been testing and preparing for the 2010 count all decade and we’re ready to fulfill our Constitutional mandate to count everyone living in the United States.”
The first publicly visible activity of the 2010 Census is ahead of schedule. Address canvassing should conclude by mid-July. The operation will use new hand held computers equipped with GPS to increase geographic accuracy. The ability to capture GPS coordinates for most of the nation’s housing units will greatly reduce the number of geographic coding errors caused by using paper maps in previous counts.
“The primary goal of the census is to count everyone once, only once, and in the right
place,” Grandy said. “Because the census is used for reapportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and the distribution of more than $300 billion in federal dollars every year to state and local governments, it’s essential to get this first step right.”
Over the last several years, the Census Bureau has been actively working on updating its geographic databases and master address files. From implementing the Local Update of Census Address (LUCA) program where more than 11,500 tribal, state and local governments participated in a review of the Census Bureau’s address list for their area, to increasing the precision of the GPS mapping, many advances have been made to compile the most comprehensive listing of addresses in the nation.
The address canvassing operation will be conducted out of 151 local census offices across the U.S., including those in Cobb County. Most offices began operations earlier this month. In most cases, census workers will knock on residents’ doors to verify addresses and inquire about additional living quarters on the premises.
This is the first census to include group quarters (such as dormitories, group homes, prisons and homeless shelters) in the address canvassing operation, which should improve both the accuracy and coverage of the final count.
There will be one final opportunity to add new home construction in early 2010 prior to the mailing of the census questionnaires.
Census workers can be identified by the official Census Bureau badge they carry. During the address canvassing operation, census workers may ask to verify a housing structure’s address and whether there are additional living quarters on the property.
2010 Census workers will never ask for bank or social security information. All census information collected, including addresses, are confidential and protected by law. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share respondents’ answers with the FBI, the IRS, CIA, Welfare, Immigration, or any other government agency. No court of law or law enforcement agency can find out respondents’ answers. All Census Bureau employees — including temporary employees — take an oath for life to keep census information confidential. Any violation of that oath is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and five years in prison.

2) Armed Robbery/Cruelty to Children Arrest (04/05/09 @ 1759 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division of Zone 2 in conjunction with the Robbery Squad have arrested three individuals for armed robbery and cruelty to a child, which occurred under the overpass of I-20 and Six Flags Parkway in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, while a male and his 5 year old child were walking to the nearby B.P. Gas station to meet his wife, they were approached by three males under I-20 and Six Flags Parkway. At gunpoint, the male was forced to give up his personnel belongings from his pockets. After he and his child were victimized, the male went to a MARTA pickup station to report the crime.
Anticipating that the three suspects would run to a nearby neighborhood on Silver Arrow Circle, Zone 2 uniform Officer E.O. Hepler responded to the area and with the assistance of Officers A.F.Gulli and W.R. Pettitt, the thee males were taken into custody without incident.
ARRESTED: Chance J. Perkins (22 year old male from Dover, N.J.) He has been charged with Criminal Street Gang Activity.
Kelton J. Alston (18 year old male from Newton, N.J) He has been charged with Criminal Street Gang Activity and Cruelty to Children.
Quadell J. Leonard (19 year old male from Hopatcong, N.J.) He has been charged with Criminal Street Gang Activity, Cruelty to Children, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Crime, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Marijuana.
All three suspects are currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Bank Robbery (04/01/09 @ 1559 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 1690 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the SunTrust Bank and immediately approached a teller. The offender then produced a “demand note” requesting money. When the teller did not respond quickly enough, the perpetrator leaned across the counter and pointed the handgun directly in the face of the female teller.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business on foot behind the Battle Ridge Shopping Center adjacent to the bank.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described as being “light skinned”. He was 45-50 year of age and possibly had a birth mark or some type of skin disease on his face. He was last seen wearing a tan and black jacket (possibly camouflage), a light colored baseball cap and blue jeans.

Felony Apprehension (04/01/09 @ 2124 hours in Zone 4) Last evening, the Cobb County Police Department and the Atlanta Police Department worked jointly to arrest an individual who initially fled from an Atlanta police officer.
At 2124 hours, an Atlanta police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver 1995 Mercedes C220 for a traffic violation, near the connector in downtown Atlanta. The driver of the Mercedes failed to yield to the officer as they continued to drive northbound on I-75 and into Cobb County. With the assistance from Atlanta Police Department’s Air Unit, the suspect was eventually tracked into east Cobb County where several attempts to stop him failed. When the driver, identified as 21 year old Cina Nikdel of Marietta, Georgia turned into the cul-de-sac in front of 4658 Amberwood Trail, the P.I.T. technique was used by an officer from the Cobb County Police Department to stop him.
After a brief struggle, Nikdel was taken into custody and charged with:

Armed Robbery (03/25/09 @ 2147 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating the robbery of a person, which occurred at 2000 East Lake Parkway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the male pizza delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza was confronted in the parking lot of the Eastlake Apartment complex while making a delivery. The two offenders (one of which was armed with a handgun) demanded the victim’s wallet and keys. Before fleeing the area, the perpetrators forced the victim into the trunk of his car. It wasn’t until the victim’s employer called approximately an hour and a half later to check on his welfare that it was discovered that he had been robbed. The victim was located a short time later physically unharmed.
OFFENDERS: Black male, 5’10” tall, described as being in his early 20’s. He had a medium build and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a dark bandanna over his face. He was armed with a handgun.

According to investigators, a male entered the B.P. gas station and after all of the customers had left the business; he pulled out a handgun and demanded all the money in the cash register. After taking the cash from the register, the offender then forced the store employee to open the store safe. After removing an undisclosed amount of cash and coins from the safe, the perpetrator fled from the business on foot toward Leland Drive.

Death Investigation (03/23/09 @ 2202 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit in conjunction with the S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating the death of a female, which occurred behind the business at 3175 Windy Hill Road in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, for reasons unknown the female driver of a maroon 1994 Ford Crown Victoria drove behind the Bright Horizon Family Solutions business and across the curb into a landscaped area. At some point the vehicle caught fire and the driver, identified as 60 year old Brenda Kaye Fair of Marietta, Georgia was not able to get out of the car.
After being extricated by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services personnel she was transported by air ambulance to Grady Hospital, but died as a result of her injuries.

Armed Robbery (03/24/09 @ 0001 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 4845 Alabama Road in Roswell, Georgia.
According to investigators, four males entered the Sam’s Mart and ordered the male clerk to open the cash registers. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash along personal items from the victim, the offenders fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATORS: Four Hispanic males who were armed with handguns.

According to investigators, a male entered the Game Stop and pulled out a handgun from under his sweatshirt and pointed it at the male employee. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled on foot in an unknown direction.
OFFENDER: Black male, 5’06” tall approximately 180 lbs. He was described as being between 18-20 years of age. He had a mustache and was seen wearing a gray sweat suit. He was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (03/15/09 @ 1727 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2779 Windy Hill Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the B.P. gas station and after all of the customers had left the business; he pulled out a handgun and demanded all the money in the cash register. After taking the cash from the register, the offender then forced the store employee to open the store safe. After removing an undisclosed amount of cash and coins from the safe, the perpetrator fled from the business on foot toward Leland Drive.

Computer Pornography Arrest (03/13/09-Headquarters) Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit have issued arrested warrants for two individuals in conjunction with “Operation Shattered Innocence”. The multi-jurisdictional statewide operation was launched on Tuesday; March 10, 2009.
There were no arrests by the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Children’s Unit until today when 17 year old Daniel Patrick Cohen of Marietta, Georgia turned himself in at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, as a result of a arrest warrant issued against him for Computer Pornography. A second suspect identified as 24 year old Justin Croy of Marietta, Georgia also has an arrest warrant issued against him for Computer Pornography, but he has not been taken into custody.
NOTE: When one or both accused have been completely processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, their book-in sheet and photograph will be distributed by the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
Armed Robbery (03/13/09 @ 1100 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1977 South Cobb Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the La Cabana Restaurant and sat down as if they were customers. Within moments, one of the two males (who was armed with a handgun) stood up and demanded money from an employee of the business. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, both offenders fled on foot in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the crime.
PERPETRATOR(s): Only described as two black males in their 20’s.
A third black male was possibly outside the business as a lookout.

***UPDATE*** on a Pedestrian Fatality Investigation (03/02/09 @ 0653 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a pedestrian fatality, which occurred on Six Flags Drive near the intersection of Calgary Glen in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, a maroon 2008 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Six Flags Drive when for reason unknown, a female attempted to cross Six Flags Drive to the Hunters Grove Apartment complex in front of it. The female was struck in the eastbound travel lane of Six Flags Drive by the Toyota.
The driver of the automobile has been identified as 40 year old Miguel A. Huezo of Austell, Georgia. He was not injured and was released at the scene.
The pedestrian has been identified as 55 year old Ethel L. Smith of Austell, Georgia. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

On Monday, March 9, 2009 Ethel L. Smith died as a result of her injuries she sustained in the collision.
No charges are expected to be filed against Miguel A. Huezo of Austell, Georgia.

Child Molestation Investigation (03/03/09- Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit is investigating a child molestation case which occurred in Cobb county.
Last evening, investigators from the Crimes Against Children’s Unit attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 42 year old Richard Areingdale at his residence in Acworth, Georgia. Investigators left his residence after they were unable to serve the Child Molestation arrest warrant.
This morning, detectives were notified by authorities from the State Capital that Mr. Areingdale was found deceased near his cubicle in the Legislative building.

Snatch Robbery (03/04/09 @ 0915 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a snatch robbery, which occurred at 1690 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 78 year old female had just got out of her car to go into the Kroger to shop, when she was approached by a male. As the male walked past her, he suddenly turned and grabbed the victim’s purse (which was on her arm). In doing so, the victim was knocked to the ground. The offender was last seen running from the area on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 6’00” tall, described as being approximately 30 years old. He had on gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt.
The victim received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.

B.O.L.O. (BE-ON-LOOKOUT on 03/03/09-Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department in conjunction with the Coffee County (Tennessee) Sheriff Department is asking for the public’s assistance in capturing an individual that escaped from Coffee County officials this afternoon at 1423 hours at the Waffle House located at 3340 Frey Road in Kennesaw, Georgia. (The corner of Frey and Chastain Roads)
Law Enforcement authorities are looking for 34 year old Christopher Daniel Gay. He is described as a white male, 5’04”-5’05” tall, 140 lbs. He has short black hair, a goatee and tattoos on both arms. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. Although he is not believed to be armed, he is wanted by Cheatham and Robinson counties in Tennessee. He is also being sought by Nashville Tennessee authorities as well as Troup County authorities in Georgia.
In the past, he has stolen a large (box type) truck, a tour bus, and a semi tractor/trailer.

***UPDATE*** on a Fatality Crash Investigation (03/01/09 @ 2137 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatal crash, which occurred near the intersection of The Exchange and Water Place in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a green 2005 Toyota Camry was traveling west on The Exchange when for reasons unknown, it failed to stop at the stop sign at Water Place. The car then entered the lake just to the east of Water Place with two occupants still inside. Personnel from the Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services extricated both victims from the vehicle and the driver was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital while the second victim (described as a juvenile) was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital. Neither victim survived the crash.
***UPDATE*** The Cobb County Police Department in conjunction with the Medical Examiners Office and the State Department are releasing the names of the victims from the crash which occurred this past Saturday evening. The 57 year old father has been identified as Adegoke Aladegbemi of Sandy Springs, Georgia. His 6 year old daughter has been identified as Adeolu Julianna Aladegbemi of Marietta, Georgia.

Robbery (02/18/09 @ 1811 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery, which occurred at 1391 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the Dollar General Store and after walking around inside the business for a few minutes, they approached the cashier as if to make a purchase. While the register was open, one of the offenders reached over the counter and pushed the employee while taking money from it. The perpetrators then fled the business on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, approximately 6’00” tall, described as being about 36 years old. He had a slim build and was dark complected. He had a goatee and was last seen wearing a grey shirt, blue jeans and a white knit cap.

Strong Arm Robbery (02/17/09 @ 1020 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a strong arm robbery, which occurred at 2675 Windy Hill Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male was walking in the parking lot towards the Wachovia Bank when he was approached from behind by another male. At some point the male offender pushed the victim and took the bank bag he was carrying. The victim gave chase and when they reached a stairwell on the eastside of the building, the victim caught the perpetrator. As both fought over the bank bag, the victim was assaulted by a second perpetrator who was seen getting out of a white Jeep Cherokee. Realizing that he was overmatched, the victim gave up the struggle with the bank bag. The offenders were last seen fleeing eastbound on Windy Hill Road towards the I-75 interchange.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 5’07”-5’08” tall, described as being in his late 30’s to early 40’s. He had a medium build with a medium skin tone. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket (with an orange liner), blue jeans, black tennis shoes and a green baseball cap.

Home Invasion/Armed Robbery (02/10/09 @ 2015 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a home invasion and armed robbery, which occurred on Ward Meade Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that while a husband and wife were sitting in the family room of their home, they were approached from behind by two males. One of the two males struck the husband in the back of the head with a handgun before both victims were tied up.
Investigators believe that the perpetrators were able to gain entry into the house by forcing the basement door.
PERPETRATOR(s): Two black males, approximately 6’00” tall, thought to have been in their 30’s. They were described as being slim and both were dressed in either dark or black clothing.

Armed Robbery/Arrest (02/03/09 @ 1600 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad has made an arrest of two individuals accused of robbing the Subway located at 3600 Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, on Tuesday; February 03, 2009 @ 1600 hours, two males entered the business and pulled out handguns demanding that the employee open the cash register. After doing so, both suspects removed the money from the cash drawer and fled from the area on foot.
Officers from the Uniform Division of Zone 5 assisted the Robbery Squad by developing leads which aided investigators in making the arrest of two males.
ARRESTED: Antonio Bryant Duarte (18 year old male from Marietta, Georgia).
Steven Paul Sasser (20 year old male from Marietta, Georgia).
Both have been charged with Armed Robbery and processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Homicide Investigation (02/07/09 @ 2332 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide, which occurred on Cauthen Court in Marietta, Georgia.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that 38 year old Richard Ellis was getting out of his car inside his garage on Cauthen Court when he was approached by a male who was armed with a handgun. While demanding money from Ellis, the male shot him in the leg. Within moments of being shot and while the male is briefly distracted, Ellis grabbed the gun and a fight ensued in the driveway of the residence over control of it. Detectives believe that Ellis was eventually able to wrestle the weapon away from the male before shooting him twice with it. After being wounded, the male ran to the front porch of a nearby residence and collapsed. The male was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
The deceased male has been identified as 33 year old John Harrison of Palmetto, Georgia.
At this time, investigators are not charging 38 year old Richard Ellis with a crime.

Fatality Crash Investigation (02/03/09 @ 0242 hours in Zone Four) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on Johnson Ferry Road at Little Willeo Road.
According to investigators, a silver 2000 Mercedes E320, operated by 39-year-old William R. Maxwell of Marietta, was traveling north on Johnson Ferry Road approaching Little Willeo Road. For unknown reasons, Maxwell’s vehicle left the roadway to the right, re-entered the roadway, and overturned. The vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes of Johnson Ferry Road. Maxwell suffered fatal injuries relating to the accident. Investigators believe that Maxwell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

According to investigators, two males entered the Subway restaurant and one of the males brandished a firearm. The armed suspect demanded the employee open the cash drawer. After receiving and undisclosed amount of cash, both suspects fled the area on foot.
PERPETRATORS:
Suspect #1: Male, 5’10” slim build, blue “puffy” jacket with white writing across the chest, black rag over his face, black gloves, black hat.
Suspect #2: Male, 5’08”, slim build, black hoodie with red and yellow design, red bandanna covering his face, wearing large white-framed sunglasses.

Attempted Kidnapping (02/03/09 @ 2345 hours in Zone Four) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a report of an attempted kidnapping, which occurred in the area of Precinct Four in east Cobb County, GA 30068
According to investigators, the victim had just returned to her residence and parked her car in the garage. A suspect approached the victim and grabbed her. After a brief struggle, the victim was stuck with a firearm and pulled into the driveway. The victim was able to fight off the suspect and he fled the area on foot. Witnesses observered the suspect entering a dark-colored Honda Accord driven by a second suspect.

***UPDATE*** Fatality Crash Investigation (01/24/09 @ 0029 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash, which occurred on Midway Road at Sylvia Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that the driver of a black 1994 Lexus was northbound on Midway Road at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the intersection at Sylvia Drive, the driver lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes of Midway Road, striking a white 2003 Mazda-6 which was southbound on Midway Road. After being struck on the passenger side door by the Mazda, the Lexus came to a stop on the western edge of the roadway and the Mazda came to rest in the middle of the roadway.
The driver of the Mazda has been identified as 25 year old Richard Reyes of Dallas, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Lexus who was deceased at the scene has been identified as 16 year old Garrett Reed of Powder Springs, Georgia.
Investigators are looking into the activities of both drivers prior to the crash, but believe that alcohol and speed were contributing factors.

At approximately 1600 hours this afternoon, investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit arrested 43 year old Kecia Evangela Whitfield at her home in Powder Springs, Georgia.
Ms. Whitfield has been charged with (1) count of Reckless Conduct (M) and (1) count of Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor (M). Her arrest stems from the continuing investigation into the death of 16 year old Garrett Reed almost a week ago to the hour.
Kecia Evangela Whitfield has been processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

Armed Robbery (01/25/09 @ 2300 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1808 Powers Ferry Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to the three male employees of the Frontera Mex Mex Grill, they had just left the business and were in the parking lot when they were confronted by at least eight males who were armed with rifles and handguns. After demanding and taking an undisclosed amount of cash from one of the victims, all of the perpetrators fled from the area on foot.
OFFENDERS: At least eight males who had their faces covered with bandannas. The victims believed the perpetrators spoke with Salvadoran accents.

As the vehicle approached the intersection at Sylvia Drive, the driver lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes of Midway Road, striking a white 2003 Mazda-6 which was southbound on Midway Road. After being struck on the passenger side door by the Mazda, the Lexus came to a stop on the western edge of the roadway and the Mazda came to rest in the middle of the roadway.
The driver of the Mazda has been identified as 25 year old Richard Reyes of Dallas, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Lexus who was deceased at the scene has been identified as 16 year old Garrett Reed of Powder Springs, Georgia.
Investigators are looking into the activities of both drivers prior to the crash, but believe that alcohol and speed were contributing factors.
Pedestrian Fatality Investigation (01/24/09 @ 0452 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a pedestrian fatality, which occurred on Piedmont Road at Rio Montana Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that a male was walking in the northbound lanes of Piedmont Road when he was struck by a vehicle. After that vehicle fled the scene, the victim who was lying in the roadway was struck by a 2008 Toyota Tundra truck.
The pedestrian identified as 23 year old Charlie Enricky Jones of Fairburn Georgia was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center by air ambulance in critical condition, but died a short time later as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota has been identified as Mr. Nenesack Chanthaboury of Marietta, Georgia. Investigators do not expect to file charges against him at this time.

According to investigators, a male entered the Shell Gas Station and while approaching the cashier, he produced a handgun. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the offender fled on foot but not before the male cashier gave chase. Just before the offender got into what was described as a white compact car, he turned and threatened to shoot the attendant. The car was last seen going southbound on Atlanta Road towards Atlanta.

According to investigators, a male entered the Los Prado grocery store and just after the customers left the business, he put a mask on over his face and went behind the front counter and produced a revolver. After forcing the female cashier to open the register, he took money from it and fled the area on foot.

Murder/Suicide Investigation (01/13/09 @ 1325 hours) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit is investigating a murder/suicide.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone 1 was dispatched to 4075 North Shores Drive in Acworth, Georgia in reference to a deceased husband and wife inside the residence. When uniform officers arrived on the scene, they met with a family member and confirmed the identities of the two victims.
Detectives have not established a motive in this case, but have confirmed that both victims died as a result of gunshot wounds. The victims have been identified as 47 year old Steven Rogers Brown and 40 year old Stephanie Jones-Brown.

According to investigators, when a male arrived home to his apartment at the Tamarron at Vinings apartment complex, he discovered the body of his roommate deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The male immediately left the apartment and called the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center from a nearby gas station.
The Uniform Division of Zone 3 responded to the apartment and confirmed the body of the deceased roommate. Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit have since identified the victim as 35 year old Kalvin Labrogette McGee of Smyrna, Georgia.
The victim’s family has been notified of his death as the investigation continues. Anyone with information which may assist detectives with this homicide case is asked to call (770) 499-3945.

Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit have arrested 28 year old Dorville Thomas for the death of 35 year old Kalvin Labrogette McGee. Yesterday evening, Dorville Thomas was arrested at his home in Powder Springs, Georgia without incident.
Dorville Thomas has been charged with Murder and is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Robbery by Sudden Snatching (01/10/09 @ 2303 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery by sudden snatching, which occurred at 3010 Canton Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male walked up to the drive thru window from the parking lot of the McDonalds. When the female cashier saw that he was dressed in all black clothing with a mask or his hood from his sweatshirt pulled around his face, she ran to the interior of the store. The male offender then pushed open the drive thru window and grabbed the cash drawer from register. The male was last seen fleeing the area on foot.

Robbery Apprehension (01/09/09 @ 0450 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division of Zone 1 has arrested two individuals accused of robbery.
According to investigators, uniform officers from Zone 1 were dispatched to 2900 Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia in reference to a fight in the parking lot of the Suburban Lodge. When Officer D.L. Spiker arrived on the scene, he determined that a 30 year old male had been assaulted and his wallet stolen in the parking lot. As he was putting out information on the suspected vehicle involved, Officer T.B. McDonald observed it leaving the parking lot onto Busbee Drive. Just prior to Officers D.R. Lowe and R.M. Green making a felony traffic stop on the truck, they observed an item being thrown from it. After stopping and placing both suspects in custody, the victim’s wallet was recovered. Witnesses were able to positively identified the suspects at the scene as the ones who assaulted and robbed the victim.
Arrested and charged with Robbery and Battery is 30 year old Gregorio Sosa Ramos of Norcross, Georgia. Also charged with Robbery, Battery and other miscellaneous Traffic Offenses is 27 year old David Plata Arias of Norcross, Georgia. Both are being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Computer Pornography Arrest (01/07/09-Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit has arrested an individual charging him with Computer Pornography.
According to investigators, on Wednesday; January 7, 2009 authorities from the Cobb County School District requested assistance from the Cobb County Police Department regarding criminal activity involving a teacher from Harrison High School. With the assistance of the Cobb County Police Department’s High Tech Crime Squad, it was determined that 36 year old Christopher Nicklis of Kennesaw, Georgia transmitted via a cell phone, statements offering or soliciting sexual conduct with a 15 year old female. In addition to the transmitted statements, Mr. Nicklis also transmitted via a cell phone photographs of his genitalia to her.
Mr. Christopher Nicklis has since resigned his position as a teacher at Harrison High School and he has been processed through the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with (1) count of Computer Pornography.

According to investigators, a male entered the Waffle House and ordered the employees to give him all the money in the cash register. At a point where the manager started to question the male, he produced a handgun from under his clothing and displayed it to the employees. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the offender fled from the area on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’07” tall, described as being approximately 25 years of age. He was described as being “dark complected” and was last seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and a black and red baseball cap. He was also armed with a handgun.

L.A. Fitness Theft Incidents (Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit from Precinct-3 is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in dozens of theft cases on the property of the L.A. Fitness located at 2995 Cobb Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the male suspect seen in the “Attached” PIC and B.O.L.O.’s enters the L.A. Fitness facility and will either break into a locker or take credit cards from a person to fails to secure their locker while they are working out. The suspect will then use the stolen credit card(s) at retail stores before the victim knows the cards have been taken from their locker.
The main reason the suspect has been so successful in purchasing high end electronic merchandise from all of the major retail outlets is due to the failure to verify the name on the credit card with that person using the stolen card before the purchase is made.
The L.A. Fitness Corporation is unable to confirm with authorities whether this individual is a member of L.A. Fitness or how he is allowed to pass by the front desk without being challenged.

Fatality Crash Investigation (12/22/08 @ 1427 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash.
The original crash occurred yesterday afternoon on Baker Road near Woodstock Road in Acworth, Georgia. Investigators have since determined that the female driver of a green 2002 Ford Explorer was southbound on Baker Road when for reasons unknown she crossed through the center turn lane and collided with a tree on the east side of the road.
At the time of the crash, the driver along with her 12 month old daughter and an 8 year old male and a 16 month old female were in the Explorer. Because the children were properly restrained they were not injured, but the driver identified as 22 year old Elizabeth Phillips of Acworth, Georgia was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries.
This morning investigators were notified by the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office that 22 year old Elizabeth Phillips died as a result of her injuries.

Missing Person/Fatality Crash Investigation (12/06/08 @ 1516 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County and Austell Police Departments in conjunction with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department are all working jointly to solve a missing person’s case.
The case involves 22 year old Laneeka Mera Monni Varnado of Powder Springs, Georgia. Ms. Varnado failed to arrive at her home after she left a concert in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday; November 24, 2008.
At approximately 1516 hours today, a landowner was checking the northwest corner of his property line off the east side of C.H. James Parkway between Humphries Hill Road and Westside Drive in Austell, Georgia. While doing so, he discovered the body of a deceased female inside a silver 1999 Mercedes S.L.K. 230. The property owner immediately contacted the Austell Police Department and they in turn contacted the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center.
Both the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons and the S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The automobile and the deceased were taken on a flatbed wrecker to a vehicle examination facility located on the Cobb County Police Department Headquarters compound.
A preliminary examination by the Cobb County Medical
Examiners Office revealed injures to the deceased to be consistent with
an automobile crash.
*Autopsy and toxicology results are still pending along with the S.T.E.P. investigators conclusion.

1) Serious Pedestrian Injury Investigation (12/04/08 @ 0659 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a pedestrian who was injured by a vehicle on Mableton Parkway just west of Discovery Boulevard in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the driver of a maroon 1999 Ford Expedition was eastbound on Mableton Parkway when a female pedestrian stepped into the center turn lane in front of him. The female pedestrian was struck by the vehicle as she was attempting to cross the five lane roadway (from the northern side to the southern side) in a non pedestrian crosswalk walk area while it was dark.
The injured pedestrian has been identified as 30 year old Alicia Jones of Mableton, Georgia. She was transported to Grady Hospital by ambulance and was in serious condition at the time.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as 48 year old James Craig of Austell, Georgia. He was not injured and charges are not expected to be filed against him.

Fatality Crash Investigation (11/24/08 @ 0004 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash, which occurred on southbound I-285 just south of South Cobb Drive.
According to investigators, a red 2000 Ford F-150 truck was southbound on I-285 when for reasons unknown, it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. When the truck redirected back into the travel portion of the roadway (in a southeasterly direction) it was struck on the drivers side door by a gray 2006 Freightliner tractor/trailer which was also southbound on I-285.
The driver of the Ford truck has been identified as 50 year old Stanley Thomas Patron of Austell, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center but died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Freightliner tractor/trailer has been identified as 47 year old Sam Tramill of Clarksville, Tennessee. He was not injured and no charges are expected to be filed against him.

Felony Murder Case (11/17/08-Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Childrens Unit has upgraded charges on an individual initially charged with Cruelty to a Child and Aggravated Battery.
On Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 1133 hours, the Uniform Division of Zone 2 was dispatched to an apartment in the Whisper Woods Apartment complex in Austell, Georgia in reference to an unresponsive two month old baby. When officers arrived, personnel from the Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services told them that the baby had already been transported by ambulance to Wellstar South Cobb Hospital after they found it not breathing, and bleeding from its nose and mouth. Later that evening, 22 year old Orlando Dyer of Austell, Georgia was charged with Aggravated Battery and Cruelty to a Child.
On Friday, November 14, 2008 at 1825 hours, the victim was taken off life support and pronounced deceased from Egleston Hospital where it had been previously transferred.
On Monday, November 17, 2008 the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office conducted an autopsy and ruled that the death of the baby was caused by blunt force trauma. As a result, charges against 22 year old Orlando Dyer of Austell, Georgia were upgraded to Felony Murder.
Orlando Dyer is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and the investigation into the death of the baby continues.

Armed Robbery (11/13/08 @ 0920 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 4725 Atlanta Road in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Subway in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the business, approached the register, and asked for a cookie. At that time, the employee opened the register to complete the transaction and the male lifted his shirt revealing a handgun. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’06”-5’08” tall, in his late twenties.
He was described as having a dark complexion. He
was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants,
and black sunglasses. He was armed with a handgun.

Serious Injury Collision (11/13/08 @ 1115 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred on Piedmont Road near Haven Lane in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, a white Dodge Dakota truck operated by 48-year-old Lisa A. Stephens of Woodstock was traveling east on Piedmont Road.
Ms. Stephens failed to maintain her lane and left the roadway. At that time, the Dodge collided with a tree on the southern side of the roadway. Ms. Stephens, who was unrestrained, was seriously injured in the collision. She was transported by ground to Grady Hospital where she was admitted for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.

Serious Injury Collision (11/09/08 @ 2052 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred Austell Road near Orange Hill Drive in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, 42-year-old Benigna O. Espinoza of Austell, Georgia was attempting to cross Austell Road, from the Target shopping center with a 4-year-old female child. They were not in a marked crosswalk. Ms. Espinoza and the child were struck in the southbound lanes of Austell Road, by a green 1999 Ford Contour, operated by 53-year-old Cheryl L. Priest-Silencio also of Austell, Georgia.
Ms. Espinoza was transported to Atlanta Medical Center by Rescue Air One, where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The child was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital by Puckett Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.
Ms. Priest-Silencio was not injured in the collision.
The collision is still under investigation by the S.T.E.P. / Traffic Services Unit, with charges pending.

Homicide/Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault Investigation (11/02/08 @ 1930 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Departments Robbery Squad in conjunction with the Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery and aggravated assault (resulting in a homicide) which occurred at 1465 West Booth Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, three males were walking to their car after being in the Fair Oaks Park when they were confronted and assaulted by two males. During the attack, one of the victims struck his head on the asphalt when he was picked up and thrown to the pavement by one of the perpetrators. As this was occurring, the other perpetrator pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the other two victims, while the first perpetrator went through the pockets of the unconscious victim that he had just thrown to the ground. The offenders then fled the area in what was described as a dark gray or blue Dodge Magnum.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 6’00”-6’02” tall. He was described as being light complected with an average build. He was in his late teens to early 20’s and was of average weight. He had short hair and was armed with a handgun.
Black male, 5’10”-5’11” tall. He was described as being of average build and weight and was in his late teens to early 20’s. He had a slight afro and was last seen wearing a white Polo shirt. He was the driver of the gray/blue Dodge Magnum.
After the attack, the victim was transported to Grady Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Today at approximately 1645 hours, the victim (who was thrown to the pavement) identified as 17 year old Ethan Thurmond of Powder Springs, Georgia was taken off life support at Grady Hospital.
His two companions who are only being identified as an 18 year old male and a 19 year old male both from Powder Springs, Georgia were not injured during the crime.

Armed Robbery/Carjacking (11/07/08 @ 1820 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Departments Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery and motor vehicle hijacking which occurred at 2900 Cobb Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a female was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Cosco business, when she was approached by two males. One of the two males pointed a handgun at her while demanding her purse and car keys. After taking her possessions, both offenders got into her car and fled from the area. The victim’s Ford was recovered a short time later within the city limits of Atlanta.
PERPETRATOR(s): Two males, only described as being between 16-18 years old. One of the two males was armed with a handgun.

Burglary (11/06/08 @ approximately 1200 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit of Zone 3 is investigating a burglary, which occurred at 2151 Cumberland Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, sometime around noon yesterday afternoon three apartments at the Magnolia Vinnings Apartment complex were burglarized. During the burglary of one of the apartments, personal items were stolen along with an eight week old brindle boxer (with freshly cropped and taped ears). According to investigators, a male entered the Waffle House as if he wanted to be waited on. While doing so, the offender lifted up his shirt and displayed a handgun to the employee. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, the perpetrator fled the area on foot behind the business.

According to investigators, a male entered the Metro PCS and engaged an employee in conversation about a cellular phone. Within moments, while displaying a handgun, the offender went behind the sales counter and demanded money from the cash register. After forcing the employee to the floor, the perpetrator fled from the business on foot. There were no injuries during the robbery.

Serious Injury Collision (10/29/08 @ 1508 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred on Canton Road at Hunters Green Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a gold 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was southbound on Canton Road while a silver 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was waiting in the center turn lane to make a left turn from northbound Canton Road to westbound Hunters Green Drive. The Nissan turned left in front of the Chevrolet and the vehicles collided. The driver of the Chevrolet, 58-year-old Kenneth Womack of Marietta, and the driver of the Nissan, 32-year-old Juliana Lopes of Kennesaw, were transported by ground to Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries. Three children in the rear of the Nissan, ages two, four, and six, were more seriously injured and were transported to Scottish Rite Hospital for treatment. At this time, all three children are conscious and alert and their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be filed.

Missing/Endangered Person (10/19/08 @ 1130 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a missing/endangered person from 174 Bridgestone Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, 68-year-old Grady Louis Bobo of Marietta, Georgia was involved in an argument with his sister on Friday evening, October 17, 2008. Mr. Bobo contacted his sister on Saturday morning, October 18, 2008, while she was at work. When his sister retuned home she discovered him missing. He packed his clothing and medication in a canvas bag. Mr. Bobo has been mentally handicapped his entire adult life and was diagnosed with dementia in 2007. He does not have a vehicle. There are no other family members or friends in the area he could be staying with.

Aggravated Assault/Motor Vehicle Hijacking/Armed Robbery (10/11/08 @ 0915 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 750 Six Flags Drive in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Two was dispatched to Village Mobile Home Park in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, the officers determined that the victim was preparing to leave for work when he was approached by a male. The male produced a handgun and demanded money. At that time, the perpetrator shot the victim twice and fled in the victim’s red Chevrolet Silverado with Georgia tag 2034 AHH. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and was admitted. He is expected to survive his injuries.
**On October 16, 2008 the perpetrator in the case was identified as 30-year-old Stephen Raphael Ellison. At this time, his whereabouts are unknown. The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit is assisting in trying to locate Mr. Ellison.
The victim’s 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was recovered today (10/17/08) by the Atlanta Police Department. The vehicle was impounded to Cobb County Police Headquarters to be processed.

Serious Injury Collision (10/16/08 @ 1106 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred Canton Road at Worley Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a silver 2007 Honda Pilot operated by 25-year-old Erin Patterson of Acworth was traveling north on Canton Road approaching Worley Drive. At the same time, a white 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by 27-year-old Erin Lecroy of Acworth was stopped at the red light on Worley Drive. When the light for Worley Drive turned green, Ms. Lecroy entered the intersection. Ms. Patterson ran the red light and collided with the driver side of the Chevrolet.
Ms. Lecroy was transported by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries. Ms. Patterson was transported by ground to Kennestone Hospital with a complaint of injuries. An infant in a car seat in the rear of the Honda was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be filed.

False Imprisonment/Impersonating a Police Officer Arrest (10/15/08 @ 1241 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a case of false imprisonment and impersonating a police officer which occurred at Friendship Church Road and Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, On October 10, 2008, 21-year-old Vincent James Mercaldo III of Marietta, Georgia conducted a traffic stop on Friendship Church Road and Dallas Highway, while operating a black unmarked 2000 Volvo S40 displaying a blue strobe light. When Mr. Mercado approached the driver he immediately recognized him as a neighbor and questioned if was an officer. Mercado replied that he was a federal officer and had the authority to conduct traffic stops and issue citations. At that time, he told the driver he was free to go and later the victim contacted the police.
On October 15, 2008, Officer B.E. Poteet observed the black Volvo S40 traveling on Friendship Church Road and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation, Mercaldo was arrested and charged with False Imprisonment, Impersonating a Police Officer, Operating an Unauthorized Vehicle with Blue Lights, Unlawful Use of License Plate, and Impersonating a Police Vehicle. He is currently in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center with a $25,000 bond.

Homicide Investigation/Arrests (10/04/08 @ 2114 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit has charged two individuals involved in a homicide at 3555 Austell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, on Saturday; October 4, 2008 @ 2114 hours, officers from the Uniform Division of Zone 2 were dispatched to the Ivy Commons apartment complex on a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they discovered that three males had been shot in the parking lot and near building 200. All three male victims were transported by ambulance for medical treatment, but a 19 year male identified as Edurdo Delgadillo of Marietta, Georgia died as a result of his injuries. Also wounded by gunfire were 17 year old Elijah Espinoza of Austell, Georgia and 26 year old Mauricio Medina of Marietta, Georgia.

On Tuesday; October 7, 2008 at 1548 hours, Cobb County Police Corporal E.A. Campuzano of the C.A.G.E. (Cobb Anti Gang Enforcement) Unit located and placed the two suspects into custody without incident outside of a home on Denny Lane in Mableton, Georgia.
ARRESTED: Gerardo Sifuentes (22 year old male from Powder Springs, Georgia.) He has been charged with Murder, (2 counts) of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Gang Activity, (2 counts) of Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree.

Critical Injury Crash Investigation (10/07/08 @ 1726 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a vehicle crash, which occurred on Hurt Road near Heritage Ridge Lane in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, the driver of a blue 2001 Ford Windstar van was northbound on Hurt Road near Heritage Ridge Lane when for reasons unknown, he crossed the double yellow line and into the southbound lane of Hurt Road. The van struck the front of a silver 2000 Lexus RX 200 which was southbound on Hurt Road.
The driver of the Lexus is identified as 44 year old Adesuwa Faderia of Powder Springs, Georgia. She and her juvenile passenger were checked out by emergency personnel at the scene and released.
The driver of the Ford is identified as 74 year old Gary Mitchell of Marietta, Georgia. He was transported to Wellstar South Cobb Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision (10/01/08 @ 1625 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision which occurred at 659 Atlanta County Club Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a white 1996 Toyota 4Runner began to roll backward down the driveway of that address. The owner of the vehicle, 72-year-old Lloyd Nelson, attempted to enter the vehicle to stop it, but was unable to fully get inside the vehicle. At that time, the left side of the vehicle collided with a tree and Mr. Nelson was seriously injured. He was transported by ground to Kennestone Hospital but died later yesterday evening.
The investigation is ongoing.

Fatality Collision (9/30/08 @ 1956 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred on I-285 Southbound at Orchard Road in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a blue 1998 Dodge Ram van pulling a camper trailer, operated by 64-year-old Judith G. Deland of Rossville, Georgia was traveling south on I-285 approaching Orchard Road. A tire failed on the Dodge and Ms. Deland lost control of the vehicle. The van and trailer overturned and slid to rest on the right shoulder, under the Orchard Road overpass. Ms. Deland was trapped in the van and a fire ensued. Ms. Deland suffered fatal injuries in the fire. The collision remains under investigation.
Ms. Deland’s family has been notified of her death.

Robbery (09/28/08 @ 2115 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery which occurred at 5015 Floyd Road Suite 610 in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Two was dispatched to Star East Chinese Restaurant in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that two males entered the business while employees were cleaning in the back. The first male leaped the front counter and smashed the register with his fist causing the till drawer to open. At that time, he removed the money from the till while the second male remained at the front door. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrators fled the business. No one was injured during this incident. The employees of the restaurant were not confronted and did not see any type of weapon.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 5’10”-6’00” tall, with an average build. He was described to be in his late teens to early twenties. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and red bandana. Black male, 5’08”-6’00” tall, with an average build. He was described to be in his late teens to early twenties. He was possibly wearing a dark colored bandana.

Homicide Investigations (09/28/08 @ 1118 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an apparent homicide, which occurred at 4612 Canton Road N.E. in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, at 1118 hours, the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a female who said that she had just discovered the body of a male inside the business of All In 1 Auto. When the Uniform Division of Zone 4 arrived on the scene, they confirmed the body of a male who had been shot multiple times.
Detectives have since determined that the victim, identified at 37 year old Tyrone Bryant was a business partner and was known to have been at the location yesterday afternoon at approximately 1400 hours.
Investigators are asking that anyone who may have been in the area of Fowler Drive and Canton Road in north Cobb County yesterday from 1400 hours on (specifically around 2000 hours) to call (770) 499-3945.
2) Bank Robbery (09/26/08 @ 1504 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 2687 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Wachovia Bank and began waiving a handgun and yelling at people. After forcing the bank manager to the floor, the perpetrator began ordering the female tellers to put cash up on the counter in front of them.
After taking the cash off the counter, the offender fled from the bank on foot toward the northwest end of the parking lot.
PERPETRATOR: White or Latino male, 5’06”-5’08” tall, described as having a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark long sleeve shirt, light colored blue jeans and a blue Boston Red Sox hat. He also wore a bandanna across his face and had on black gloves. He was armed with a handgun.

Fatality Crash Investigation (09/26/08 @ 0646 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality crash, which occurred on Ebenezer Road just east of Thornbrook Lane in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators and witnesses from the scene, the driver of a black 2006 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic motorcycle was westbound on Ebenezer Road approaching the railroad track crossing. For reasons unknown, after the driver crossed the tracks he lost control of the motorcycle and he and the motorcycle left the roadway. The driver struck a guy wire of a utility pole and the motorcycle came to rest against the base of the pole.
The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 56 year old Steven R. Medeiros of Marietta, Georgia. He was sent by air ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Steven R. Medeiros was a Sergeant with the Kennesaw State University Police Department.

Serious Injury Crash Investigation (09/25/08 @ 1657 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a serious injury crash which occurred on Kennesaw Due West just west of Kettle Court in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, a white 1997 Honda Accord was westbound on Kennesaw Due West when for reasons unknown the driver crossed the double yellow line and into the path of an eastbound white 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. Both vehicles struck each other head-on and came to rest in the roadway.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban is identified as 44 year old Laurie Jean Alexander of Kennesaw, Georgia. Ms. Alexander’s 6 year old son and 8 year old daughter were in the back seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash. None of the Alexander family required medical attention at the scene.
The driver of the Honda has been identified as 37 year old Angela Finch of Dallas, Georgia. After being extricated from her car, she was sent by air ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center, where she was listed (yesterday) in serious but stable condition.
Charges are expected to be filed in this case pending the outcome of the investigation.

Armed Robbery (09/25/08 @ 2140 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 4120 Austell Road in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Walgreen’s and approached the front counter. While displaying a handgun to the clerk, the perpetrator demanded money from the cash register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the offender fled from the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described as being between 18-20 years of age.
Armed Robbery (09/25/08 @ 1155 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1757 East/West Connector (Suite #475) in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males who were wearing bandannas entered the Game Stop business. While one of the two offenders was pointing a handgun at the clerk, both perpetrators demanded money from the cash register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, both fled the area on foot.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 5’10”-6’00” tall. He was described as being in his early 20’s. He had an average build and was last seen wearing a green tee shirt, a dark hat, a light colored bandanna.

5) Underage Alcohol Compliance Check (09/25/08 – Headquarters) The Cobb County Police Department’s Permits Unit conducted an Underage Compliance Check in unincorporated Cobb County yesterday evening. Some of these businesses were selected because of complaints received from concerned citizens or parents about alleged underage service of alcohol. Other area businesses were selected at random.
Of the ten (10) businesses checked, two (2) sold to an underage volunteer. Cobb County detectives wrote twelve (12) citations: two (2) for Selling/ Furnishing Alcohol to an Underage Person and four (4) county ordinance violations to employees who did not possess the required Cobb County Alcohol Permit. After the business of Mi Pueblo furnished alcohol to underage volunteers, six (6) patrons at the business who were consuming alcoholic beverages (while under the age of 21) were also cited.

Bank Robbery (09/25/08 @ 1030 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery which occurred at 4495 West Village Way S.E. in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the Colonial Bank and approached a teller at her window. One of the two offenders then presented a note demanding that money be put into a book bag that one of the two brought inside with them. After the first employee put money into the bag, the perpetrators demanded that she take it to the adjacent teller and put money from her cash drawer in it as well.
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the business, the offenders left the business and were last seen fleeing the area in a light grey or silver (mid to late) 90’s Volvo station wagon.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 6’00”-6’02” tall, described as being in his early 20’s. He was described as being thin without any facial hair. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a black hooded shirt with “ENYCE” embroidered on it. He also had on a black and yellow Pittsburg Pirates baseball team hat.
Black male, 5’10-6’00” tall, also described as being in his early 20’s. He too had a thin build and was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt with the number “68” embroidered on it.

Cruelty to Child Arrests (09/23/08 @ 1619 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit continues to investigate a cruelty to child incident which was discovered yesterday afternoon after the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center dispatched Fire and Emergency Services and the Uniform Division from Zone 2 to 2050 Austell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, when both fire and police arrived at the Crescent Square Apartment complex, the 2 year old female child was discovered unconscious and unresponsive after reportedly she had fallen from her bed. The child was immediately transported to Scottish Rite Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for external, internal and serious head trauma. At the time of this release the child was in critical condition with life threatening injuries.
Cruelty to a Child (F) charges have been filed against 25 year old Amanda Swain and 26 year old Melvin Alexander Flores-Amador, both of Marietta, Georgia. They are being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Armed Robbery (09/22/08 @ 2100 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 981 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, two males entered the Kentucky Fried Chicken business and went directly behind the service counter. While one of the perpetrators stood by with a tire tool, the second took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. Both individuals were seen getting into a grey car and fleeing the area.
PERPETRATOR(s): Two black males described as being in their early 20’s. Both had on masks and one of the two was armed with a tire tool.

Bank Robbery (09/18/08 @ 1525 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery, which occurred at 4451 Atlanta Road (Suite #102) in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male approached the front counter at the Vinings Bank and presented a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the offender fled the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’09” tall, described as being in his late teens to early 20’s. He had an average build and was clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a patterned shirt and dark pants. He also wore sunglasses and had on a black (Atlanta Braves “A”) ball cap. He did not display any weapon during the robbery.
Armed Robbery (09/18/08 @ 1945 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 1625 South Cobb Drive in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, two armed males entered the O’Reilly Auto Parts business and demanded money from the two male employees. Even though the employees cooperated with the perpetrators demands they were physically assaulted by them. The offenders were last seen fleeing the area in what was described as being an older model gold Ford Crown Victoria. Detectives believe the vehicle had damage to the left headlight and was parked near the business with a third male driving it.
PERPETRATOR(s): Two black males who were armed with handguns.
A third black male was seen behind the wheel of the gold Ford Crown Victoria.

**UPDATE**Aggravated Assault, Motor Vehicle Hijacking & Kidnapping (09/17/08 @ 1226 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an aggravated assault and kidnapping which occurred at 425 Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone One was dispatched to an aggravated assault at the Town Center Plaza. Upon arrival, officers were approached by a number of witnesses who described a silver compact car that was seen leaving the area with a male and injured female inside. A B.O.L.O (Be on the Lookout) was issued on the vehicle and a Cobb County officer located the vehicle on I-75 southbound. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the car, but lost sight of the vehicle on I-75 near I-20.
Investigators have since determined that the victim identified as 41-year-old Lisa Ambrose of Kennesaw, Georgia was attempting to get into her vehicle in the parking lot of the Town Center Plaza near Party Land when she was confronted by 39-year-old Anthony Robbins also of Kennesaw, Georgia. A struggle ensued between the two and Ms. Ambrose was stabbed and kidnapped by Mr. Robbins. He then fled the area with Ms. Ambrose in her vehicle, a 2006 gold or tan Mazda 6 with a Georgia prestige tag 2QL.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 39-year-old Anthony Robbins for Aggravated Assault, Motor Vehicle Hijacking, and Kidnapping. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
41-year old Lisa Ambrose has been located at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida. She is in critical condition. Her vehicle has not been located and Anthony Robbins remains at large.
**The Florida Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Anthony Robbins overnight. The Mazda 6 belonging to Ms. Ambrose was recovered**

Armed Robbery (09/13/08 @ 1125 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 2343 Akers Mill Road in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Akers Mill Food Store in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that four males were working to remodel the business when they were approached by a male. The male produced and handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the victims, the perpetrator fled on foot toward Fulton County.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’04” tall, with a medium build.

Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 465 Pat Mell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Metro PCS in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that two males, with bandanas covering their faces, entered the business armed with handguns. One of the perpetrators went behind the counter and demanded money. At that time, the victim opened the cash register and the perpetrator took an undisclosed amount of cash while the second perpetrator kept lookout. Both perpetrators fled on foot to Lorene Drive, where a witness observed them get into a silver or “champagne” colored passenger vehicle and leave the area.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’03” tall, with a thin build.
He was described to have dark skin and short hair. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and black pants, with a red bandana covering his face. He was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (09/08/08 @ 2150 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 5201 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, two armed males entered the Zaxby’s restaurant and approached the store manager demanding money from him. The manager told detectives that he opened the business safe and removed all the money and placed it in a bag. The perpetrators then took the bag and fled from the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 5’08” tall, 160 lbs. He was described as being between 20-25 years of age. He was last seen wearing dark clothing, a hooded sweat shirt and rubber gloves. He was armed with a handgun.

Attempted Bank Robbery (09/08/08 @ 1410 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an attempted armed robbery which occurred at 2895 Cherokee Street in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the Kroger grocery store and approached the front counter of the Best Bank and demanded that the teller fill a bag with money. After the perpetrator displayed a handgun, the female teller moved away from the counter to a secure area. The offender immediately left the store and entered a black compact car before fleeing the area.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 6’00” tall, described as being in his fifties, and “average size”. He had gray hair, a mustache and beard. He wore glasses and had on a black and red Atlanta Falcons jersey. (The jersey had white “Atlanta” lettering on the front, and a white “07” on the back.) He had a ball cap style hat and was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery (09/07/08 @ 2255 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2779 Windy Hill Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the B.P. Station and selected an item as if to make a purchase. As the male cashier rang up the item and the cash drawer opened, the male perpetrator displayed a handgun (wrapped in a white cloth) and demanded the money. After taking the cash from the register, the perpetrator ran from the business through the parking lot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’06”-5’10” tall, described as being in his 30’s. He had an average build and was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, hat, and he was armed with a handgun which was wrapped in a white cloth.
Armed Robbery (09/05/08 @ 2200 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 2100 Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a male entered the American Deli and pointed a handgun at the female employee while demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the offender fled from the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described as being short. He was dressed in black and had on a ski mask. He was armed with a handgun.

Serious Injury Collision (9/4/08 @ 1137 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred on Barrett Parkway between I-75 and Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 2009 International box truck (Penske moving truck) pulling a vehicle dolly, operated by 43-year-old Michael Oakley of Henderson, Kentucky, was traveling west on Barrett Parkway approaching I-75. A 2007 Volvo cement truck (Thomas Concrete Industries) operated by 65-year-old Frankie Freeman of Woodstock, was traveling west on Barrett Parkway in front of the Penske truck. The cement truck slowed in traffic and the front of the Penske truck collided with the rear of the cement truck. The left front wheel of the Penske truck detached and the truck crossed the concrete median into the eastbound lanes. The Penske truck collided with a 2006 Nissan pickup, operated by 58-year-old Lizardo Lopez of Marietta, which was traveling east on Barrett Parkway.
Mr. Oakley was transported by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center where he was admitted for treatment. Mr. Freeman and Mr. Lopez refused emergency medical treatment at the scene.
This collision remains under investigation.

**UPDATE**Homicide (08/25/08 @ 0945 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide which occurred at 6 Acadia Lane in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, officers from Precinct Two responded to a dispatch regarding a person shot at the Castlewood Mobile Home Park. Upon arrival, officers found 17-year-old Edgar Garcia of Mableton, Georgia with a gunshot wound of the torso. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and was pronounced deceased several hours later. During the course of the investigation, it has been determined that the perpetrator was attempting to commit armed robbery of Mr. Garcia and two other victims. The perpetrator fled the area in a dark colored vehicle of an unknown make.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’09” tall, with a thin build.
He was described to have “close” hair and was “clean shaved". He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. He was also wearing a black baseball style cap with a possible New York Yankees logo. He was armed with a handgun.

Armed Robbery Arrest (08/29/08 @ 1255 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 2935 Old Concord Road in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Concord Crossing Apartments in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers were directed to a nearby apartment by a witness. The officers entered the apartment and located the perpetrator in a bedroom closet. Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for the apartment where evidence was gathered in relation to the armed robbery.
At this time, 18 year-old Nehemiah T. Wooten of Smyrna, Georgia has been arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and False Name. He remains in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Four was dispatched to the Chevron Gas Station in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the store, jumped through the cashier window station armed with a handgun, and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’09” and 160 pounds.
He was described to be 18-20 years old.

**UPDATE**Fatality Collision (08/26/08 @ 0308 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred on I-285 westbound, east of Cobb Parkway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 2003 Ford pickup was traveling southbound on I-75 while utilizing the ramp to I-285 westbound. The initial investigation indicates that the driver of the Ford was traveling at an unsafe speed as he exited the right-hand curvature of the roadway during rainy conditions. As the Ford exited the curvature it began a clockwise rotation from the inside westbound travel lane to the outside westbound travel lane. The Ford exited the northern roadway edge as it continued to rotate and collided with the guardrail. The Ford remained in contact with the guardrail as it continued in a westerly direction. The Ford disengaged from the guardrail and was oriented in a southwesterly direction. At some point, the Ford became positioned on the driver’s side, now sliding, as it continued westbound. A semi-trailer being drawn by a 2001 Volvo Truck Tractor operated by, Labeika Rimantas of Munster, Indiana was improperly parked in the emergency lane on the northern side of the roadway. Mr. Rimantas was asleep in the sleeper birth of the truck. The undercarriage of the Ford collided with the rear of the semi-trailer. The Ford was immediately engulfed in flames which severely burned both occupants, believed to be males, beyond recognition. Mr. Rimantas was charged with improper parking on the interstate.
**The Cobb County S.T.E.P. Unit with the assistance of the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office, has positively identified the victims of the crash as 30-year-old Thomas Melvin Reed II of Atlanta, Georgia (formerly Mobile, Alabama) and 21-year-old Charles Derrick Shelton of Atlanta, Georgia.**

According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Kenwood Creek Apartments in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that the victim was walking through the complex on the main road when he was approached by two males. The males produced handguns, ordered him to the ground, and demanded money. The victim surrendered several items to the perpetrators, who then struck him in the head before fleeing. The victim was treated on the scene.

Homicide (08/25/08 @ 1942 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a homicide which occurred at 899 Powers Ferry Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, officers from Precinct Four responded to the Riverstone Apartments in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located 38-year-old Binod Kumar Shrestha of Marietta, Georgia in the parking lot in front of Building H with multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Shrestha was pronounced deceased on the scene.
There is no suspect information at this time.

**UPDATE**Aggravated Assault (08/23/08 @ 2215 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an aggravated assault which occurred at 1500 Bellemeade Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, 47-year-old Daniel Guerrero Hernandez of Marietta, Georgia engaged in an argument with 25-year-old Raul Uriostegui Martinez of Smyrna, Georgia at the Bellechase Apartments. During the course of the argument, Mr. Martinez stabbed Mr. Hernandez multiple times and fled the area. Mr. Hernandez was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment.
On August 25, 2008 there was a miscommunication between Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and the Cobb County Police Department which led to the release that Daniel Guerrero Hernandez had died as a result of his injuries. Through medical intervention, Mr. Hernandez is still alive and remains on a life support system.
Raul Uriostegui Martinez is wanted for Aggravated Assault and his whereabouts are unknown.

Hit & Run/ Serious Injury Collision (08/25/08 @ 2041 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred on Austell Road and Sandtown Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo operated by, Leonel Etienne, was traveling northbound on Austell Road approaching Sandtown Road. At the same time, an unknown vehicle, possibly a Toyota, was traveling southbound on Austell Road and initiated a left turn onto Sandtown Road. The left front of the unknown vehicle collided with the driver’s side of the Isuzu in the intersection. The collision caused Mr. Etienne to lose control of the Isuzu. The Isuzu exited the eastern roadway edge where the driver's side collided with a utility pole. Mr. Etienne's 23 month old daughter was positioned in a child safety seat in the rear passenger compartment. During the collision with the utility pole, the child was directed toward the pole and sustained extensive head injuries. She was transported by Rescue Air One to Scottish Rite Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. Mr. Etienne was not injured.
The hit and run vehicle is possibly an older model white Toyota Camry or Cressida. It has extensive left front end damage. Anyone with information about the vehicle should

Armed Robbery (08/24/08 @ 1950 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 1000 Cumberland Mall in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to the Fresh to Go Restaurant in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the restaurant at closing time and asked the staff to identify the manager. At that time, the male approached the manager, produced a handgun, and demanded money. The perpetrator ordered the manager to open the cash register and safe, and place all of the money into a back pack. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business. No one was injured during this incident.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’10”tall, and 140 pounds.
He was described to be 18-20 years old.

Bank Robbery (08/22/08 @ 0930 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a bank robbery which occurred at 2201 Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Four was dispatched to Wachovia in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the bank, approached a teller, and produced a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’07”-5’09” tall, and approximately
160-190 pounds. He was last seen wearing an
orange shirt and a “blended” orange, red, and
yellow ball cap with a “DODGE” logo on the front.

Armed Robbery Arrest (08/20/08 @ 1405 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 2500 Cobb Place Lane in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone One was dispatched to Cold Stone Creamery in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the business and approached the counter. The male produced a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. At that time, the perpetrator went behind the counter and ordered the victim to open the safe and register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled the business on foot.
A witness observed the perpetrator in his vehicle prior to the incident and was able to give a description to the 911 Communications Call Center. Dispatch relayed the B.O.L.O (Be on the lookout) to officers in the area. Officers with the Cobb County S.T.E.P. (Special Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit were in the area and Officer C.M. Willis located the vehicle moments later a short distance from the incident location. Officer Willis and Sergeant R.C. Fisher conducted a stop on the vehicle and arrested 35-year-old Gregory DeHarold Cole of Smyrna, Georgia without further incident. At this time, Mr. Cole is in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with Armed Robbery.

Robbery (08/19/08 @ 1420 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating a robbery which occurred at 3900 Mary Eliza Trace in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Five was dispatched to Wachovia Bank in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the bank disguised as a cyclist and approached the teller line. He passed a note to the teller and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator walked out of the bank and was last seen on foot.
PERPETRATOR: White male, 5’11”-6’00” tall, with an average
build. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a dust
mask and black “BELL” cycle helmet, with a black
cycling shirt, shorts, and shoes.

Serious Injury Collision (08/16/08 @ 1711 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision which occurred on Mableton Parkway at Old Gordon Road in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, operated by 56-year-old Leonard E. Phillips of Marietta, was traveling northbound on Mableton Parkway in the left travel lane. At the same time, a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, operated by a hispanic male, was turning left from Old Gordon Road to southbound Mableton Parkway. The driver of the Ford, which failed to yield from a stop sign, turned left and collided with the Harley Davidson. The driver of the Ford left the scene of the collision and later abandoned the vehicle in the residential driveway at 6040 Milan Drive, Mableton, Georgia. Mr. Phillips was transported by Metro Atlanta Ambulance to Grady Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained as a result of the collision.
At this time, the driver of the Ford Crown Victoria has been identified as 34-year-old Luciano A. Aleman (AKA: Luciano Argueta-Aleman). A warrant has been obtained for Mr. Aleman’s arrest charging him with Felony Hit and Run, Failure to Yield, and Expired Drivers License. Mr. Aleman’s current whereabouts are unknown.

According to investigators, a male entered the Texaco gas station and displayed a handgun to the female clerk. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from her, the offender fled from the business on foot.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’07”-5’08” tall with a thin build. He was described as being clean shaven and between 45-50 years old. He was armed with a handgun.
Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault (08/13/08 @ 0945 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery, which occurred at 737 Veterans Memorial Highway S.W. in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone 3 was dispatched to the Taco Bell restaurant in reference to an armed robbery. When they arrived, they spoke to the three employees of the business. The victims told officers that two males who were armed with handguns and wearing bandannas entered the business and while one of the perpetrators stood at the front of the counter, the second one went around and assaulted one of the employees before forcefully removing a cash drawer from the drive thru window. The perpetrator then handed the cash drawer to the male perpetrator standing in front of the counter before forcefully taking the second cash drawer at the main counter. After taking both cash drawers, the perpetrators fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
PERPETRATOR(s): Black male, 6’02” tall, described as having a muscular build. He had his hair pulled back in a ponytail and was last seen wearing a bandanna across his face. He was armed with a handgun.

***UPDATE*** on the Fatality Crash Investigation from 08/10/08 @ 0007 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit continues to investigate a fatality collision which occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday; August 10, 2008.
According to investigators, officers from Precinct-2 were originally dispatched to a multi vehicle crash which occurred on Six Flags Drive at the (westbound) entrance ramp to I-20, involving a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage and a 1986 Dodge D-100 truck. Officers were able to determine that the female driver of the Mitsubishi was traveling (southbound) on Six Drive approaching the ramp to (westbound) I-20 without her lights on. At the same time, the male driver of the truck was traveling (northbound) on Six Flags Drive attempting to turn left onto (westbound) I-20. While turning left onto I-20 from Six Flags Drive, the truck was struck by the car.
The driver of the Mitsubishi has been identified as 26 year old Samara Escobar of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Although Ms. Escobar refused medical treatment at the scene, her front seat passenger (only identified at this time as a 51 year old male from Lawrenceville, Georgia pending notification of next of kin) was transported by ambulance to Grady Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Dodge has been identified as 62 year old James Roberts of Austell, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar South Cobb Hospital complaining of injury.

Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit in conjunction with the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office have positively identified and notified the next of kin of the death of 51 year old Jose Angel Borja Hacho of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Fatality Crash Investigation ***DELAYED*** (08/10/08 @ 0007 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday; August 10, 2008.
According to investigators, officers from Precinct-2 were originally dispatched to a multi vehicle crash which occurred on Six Flags Drive at the (westbound) entrance ramp to I-20, involving a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage and a 1986 Dodge D-100 truck. Officers were able to determine that the female driver of the Mitsubishi was traveling (southbound) on Six Drive approaching the ramp to (westbound) I-20 without her lights on. At the same time, the male driver of the truck was traveling (northbound) on Six Flags Drive attempting to turn left onto (westbound) I-20. While turning left onto I-20 from Six Flags Drive, the truck was struck by the car.
The driver of the Mitsubishi has been identified as 26 year old Samara Escobar of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Although Ms. Escobar refused medical treatment at the scene, her front seat passenger (only identified at this time as a 51 year old male from Lawrenceville, Georgia pending notification of next of kin) was transported by ambulance to Grady Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Dodge has been identified as 62 year old James Roberts of Austell, Georgia. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar South Cobb Hospital complaining of injury.
The fatality crash remains under investigation and charges are expected to be filed in the case.

Entering Auto/Apprehensions (08/11/08 @ 0427 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Uniform Division and Criminal Investigations Unit of Zone 3 are investigating a series of entering autos which occurred at 4600 West Village Way in Smyrna, Georgia.
Yesterday morning at 0427 hours, officers from Precinct-3 were dispatched to the West Village Condominiums in reference to the sound of breaking glass. When Officer J.E. Bultman arrived in the area he observed three males sitting in a brown Buick Century in the parking deck. As the officer began to investigate the trio, he discovered stolen property, tools and broken glass in the car. With the assistance of Lieutenant E.S. Yeager, Sergeant B.S. Osborne, and Officers C.E. Scaggs, J.M. Mitchell and S.A. Burris, they all began to search the area for vehicles which may have been broken into. With the assistance of Criminal Investigations Detectives Sergeant L.D. White, R.A. Whitaker, G.R. Poag, and W.E. Wagnon, officers have identified -23- vehicles which had been broken into and items stolen from them.
The stolen property which was recovered and returned to the owners includes car stereos, portable G.P.S. systems and laptop computers.

Xavier Hooks (an 18 year old male from Stone Mountain, Georgia)
Anthony Miller (a 19 year old male from Decatur, Georgia)
All three individuals have been charged with -23- separate counts of Entering Auto along with a Theft of an Automobile.

Accidental Drowning ***UPDATE*** (08/10/08 @ 1615 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit continues to investigate an accidental drowning which occurred at 5350 Holloman Road in Powder Springs, Georgia.
According to investigators, a 5-year-old male from Smyrna, Georgia was attending a gathering at Sun Valley Beach with his family. Detectives believe that after losing sight of their child for a few minutes, the parents notified fellow patrons and on duty lifeguards. During the search for the child, the male was located in approximately five feet of water. After being pulled from the water, C.P.R. was administered and the victim was transported by air ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital. Hospital officials were unable to revive the child.
This morning the Cobb County Medical Examiners Office conducted an autopsy and although toxicology results are still pending, it has been determined that the 5 year old child died as a result of drowning. He has been identified as Kavi Patel of Smyrna, Georgia.

Armed Robberies/Arrests (08/10/08 @ 2220 & 2230 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad has investigated and made an arrest of two individuals responsible for two armed robberies at 2667 Powder Springs Road and 2525 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators at approximately 2220 hours, a male entered the Subway and demanded money from the female employee while displaying a handgun to her. After finding out that the employee did not have access to any money, the suspect took money from a tip jar on the service counter.
Moments later, the same individual walked into the Quick Food Store and while displaying a handgun to the male clerk, he demanded money from him. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk, the suspect fled from the business on foot.
After getting information from the Cobb County Emergency Communications Center, uniform officers from Zone 2 observed a male running from the area of the Quick Food Store and get into a vehicle. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and arrested both individuals without incident. Evidence was recovered by the officers linking the suspects to the two robberies.
ARRESTED: Anthony Brown (20 year old male from Marietta, Georgia)
Terrance Brown (19 year old male from Marietta, Georgia)
Both have been charged with Armed Robbery and are currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Armed Robbery (08/10/08 @ 0555 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 4875 Floyd Road in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the female clerk was inside the booth at the fuel station located in the parking lot of the Kroger when she heard a knock at the back door. As she answered the door, a male forced his way into the booth and began to threaten the victim with a knife. After demanding and receiving cash from the register, the offender was seen walking southbound away from the business.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’08” tall, described as being heavy set in his late teens. He was last seen wearing a black tee shirt with red trim. He also had on a baseball cap and red gloves. He was armed with a “box cutter” type of knife.
Armed Robbery (08/08/08 @ 2241 hours in Zone 5) The Cobb County Police Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 3600 Dallas Highway in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, a female and male entered the Subway and waited for customers to leave the business. Just after the customers left, the female perpetrator approached the counter as if to make a purchase. As she did, she announced a robbery and placed her hand in her purse. After seeing a metal object, the clerk began to open the cash register. As he was doing so, the male perpetrator came around the counter and began to choke him. The male perpetrator then took an unknown amount of cash from the register and fled the area in what was described as being a blue Buick.
The male employee did not require medical attention.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, 5’09” tall, described as having a medium build.
Hispanic female, described as being in her 20’s. She was last seen wearing a black tee shirt, blue jeans and she was carrying a brown and tan “couch” type shoulder bag.

Fatality Collision (08/10/08 @ 1810 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred on Oak Ridge Road at Ivy Log Drive in Power Springs, Georgia.
According to investigators, a gold 1998 Chrysler Concorde, operated by 35-year-old Trinity L. Shephard of Lithia Springs, Georgia, was stopped at the stop sign on Ivy Log Drive at Oak Ridge Road. At the same time, a blue 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, operated by 17-year-old Darrell Conquest of Austell, GA, was traveling west on Oak Ridge Road from the area of Blair Bridge Road. Mr. Shephard attempted to make a left turn and travel east on Oak Ridge Road. Mr. Shephard failed to yield the right of way to the Chevrolet which was unable to stop, and collided with the left side of the Chrysler. Mr. Shephard suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision, and was pronounced deceased on scene. Mr. Conquest was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he was treated and released.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Chevrolet was traveling above the posted speed limit at the time of the collision. This collision is still under investigation.

Fatality Collision (08/10/08 @ 0319 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred on Sullivan Road in southwest Cobb County.
According to investigators, 35-year-old Tony Lamond Smith of Powder Springs (Paulding County), Georgia, was operating a green 1994 BMW 540 westbound on Sullivan Road. The BWM was traveling in excess of the posted speed limit when it entered a left curvature. At that time, the right rear tire left the northern edge of the pavement causing Mr. Smith to make a sudden left steering input. The BMW began a counterclockwise rotation and continued across the roadway.
The BMW left the southern edge of the roadway, struck the southern incline of a drainage culvert, and began to roll. The BMW struck a chain link fence and a swing set before coming to rest against a large tree in front of 4737 Sullivan Road. Mr. Smith was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected during the rollover, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators completed notification of the collision with Mr. Smith’s next of kin.
No charges are anticipated for this single vehicle incident.

**UPDATE**Death Investigation (08/04/08 @ 1730 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a death which occurred at 170 Smyrna Powder Springs Road in Smyrna, Georgia.
According to investigators, on August 4, 2008 officers from the Cobb County Police Department responded to the Harmony Falls Apartment Complex on Smyrna-Powder Springs Road in reference to a person-down call. They arrived a short time later and found the body of a female deceased in one of the vacant apartments. As of this time, the identity of the female is unknown.
The Cobb County Police Department is requesting help from the public in positively identifying the victim. She is a Hispanic female that appears to be in her mid-twenties and has shoulder length black hair. She is 5 feet 3 inches tall, and weighs approximately 140 lbs. Her eyes are blue and she has two distinctive tattoos on her body. The first is the word “Israel” written in cursive on her right calf with two stars above the design. The second tattoo is the capital version of the letter “A” on her left hand between the thumb and first finger.
**UPDATE** At this time (08/08/08), the deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Alejandra Hernandez of Chamblee, Georgia. The family has been notified.
The Cobb County Police Department would like to thank all of the media outlets that assisted with broadcasting the information. Several tips were received that led to the identity. A special thanks to the Spanish radio stations that broadcasted the information. Their assistance directly led to the female being identified.
This case remains under investigation.

Armed Robbery (08/07/08 @ 2324 hours in Zone 3) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 365 Pat Mell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Three was dispatched to Taqueria La Duranguense in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that two males entered the restaurant. While one of the perpetrators held the employees at gunpoint, the other emptied the cash register. The suspects fled the area on foot and no one was injured.
PERPETRATORS: Hispanic male, 5’06”tall, and approximately
16-17 years of age. He was described to have
short black hair and a “skinny” build. He was last
seen wearing a white and black striped shirt.
Hispanic male, 5’08”-5’10”, and approximately
20-21 years of age. He was described to have dark
hair (short on the sides and long on the top), a light
complexion, a large nose, and acne. He was last
seen wearing a black t-shirt.
Armed Robbery (08/08/08 @ 0508 hours in Zone 1) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 3400 Busbee Drive in Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone One was dispatched to Chevron in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the perpetrator fled northbound on Busbee Drive.
PERPETRATOR: Black male, described to be in his early twenties.
He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue
jeans. He was armed with a handgun.

Fatality Collision (08/07/08 @ 1857 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police
Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision which occurred at Robinson Road at Clubland Way in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, 24-year-old Raoul Mohammed of Canton, Georgia was operating a 2007 Ford E250 van northbound on Robinson Road. At the same time, 15-year-old Aaron Cleveland of Marietta, Georgia was operating a 2008 Peace Sports moped southbound on Robinson Road and attempted a left turn to Clubland Way. Cleveland and the moped were struck by the Ford E250 in the northbound lane.
Aaron Cleveland was transported to Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Mohammed was not injured in the collision.
Aaron Cleveland lived in the Indian Hills subdivision and attended Walton High School.
Investigators do not intend to file any charges.

Armed Robbery (08/06/08 @ 2055 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 7365 Six Flags Drive in Austell, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Two was dispatched to Hong Kong Super Buffet in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a male entered the business and walked into the dining area. At that time, he produced a handgun and proceeded to wave it around while telling the patrons to remain calm. Shortly after, the perpetrator backed his way out the front door and an additional perpetrator was seen running past the window with him. Once the perpetrators fled, the manager noticed that the cash register had been taken.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’02” tall, and 180 pounds.
He was described as having a slim build with
a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a
white tank top, khaki shorts, and had a purple
bandana across his face. He was armed with a
handgun.
There is no description on the second perpetrator.
Armed Robbery (08/06/08 @ 2130 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 1245 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Two was dispatched to Hawthorne Plaza in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to two females who advised they were standing next to their vehicle when they observed two males come from the breezeway wearing masks. The females attempted to get into the car, but the perpetrators caught up to them and demanded their purses. At that time, one of the perpetrators produced a handgun and the victims handed over their purses. The perpetrators were last seen fleeing the area on foot, back through the breezeway.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’03” tall, with a slim build and a
medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a
black t-shirt, and a black bandana across his face.

Armed Robbery (08/07/08 @ 0044 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 3101 Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Four was dispatched to McDonald’s in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers determined that as the closing manager and another employee were leaving the restaurant, they were approached by two males and forced back inside. Once inside, the perpetrators took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.
PERPETRATORS: Black male, 6’00” tall, and 160 pounds with
a medium build. He was described to be between
twenty and thirty years old. He was armed with a
handgun.

Armed Robbery (08/05/08 @ 0324 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police
Department’s Robbery Squad is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 4250 Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia.
According to investigators, the Uniform Division of Zone Four was dispatched to CVS in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival the officers determined that three males entered the store at the same time. The first male went to the pharmacy and forced the pharmacist to open the safe at gun point. He proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs from the safe and the shelves and put them in a suitcase. The second and third perpetrators rounded up the three remaining employees and forced them into the men’s restroom at gunpoint. While the second perpetrator kept watch on the bathroom door, the third perpetrator took an undisclosed amount of money from the front cash registers. The perpetrators also took three cell phones from the victims. All three perpetrators fled the scene in an unknown direction. None of the employees were injured during the incident.
